H. Bnlhart and Kay Earl, were entered by theives, who appeared to be after money, as they secured but very little booty at any of stores excepting Brilhart's. It is estimated that they carried off about worth jewelry from Brilhart's such as rings, chains, pins and charms. At Eay Earl's they secured about in small change and several large chisels. They did not disturb anything at the butcher shops but the money drawer, finding very little for their trouble.

From McCracken St. Glair's butcher shop the theives took a large cleaver withlwhicb they obtained entrance into Graff's and Ray Earl's, by pricing the doors open. At Brilhart's this method of obtaining entrance was too slow or the doors would not give, as they deliberately threw the cleaver through one of the large glass doors fronting on the street. This was a very bold proceeding as that part of the town is thickly populated and some one is about almost every hour in the. night.

They were not disturbed, however, and finished up their work in a leisurely manner and departed. The authorities have some very strong evidence against several young men, who have since left the town, but the parties who are most interested, the merchants who were robbed, refuse to take part in the prosecution of the burglars, giving as a reason that they are afraid of being burnt out. This in our opinion is the weakest and rankest sort of cowardice, and every good and loyal citizen should unite to prosecute these criminals and rid our community of that class of people. Sneak thieves visited the Lutheran church on last Friday evening, and took away several valuable umbrellas. They also visited the residence of Judge Clark the same evening and carried off an umbrella.

Dwelling Ransacked. On last Thursday, Mrs. Thompson, a widow lady, who resides on Philadelphia street, wrote to a lady friend whose property adjoins hers, from Saltsburg, asking her friend to have her house opened and aired, and to see that the fires were started on Friday morning so that the house might be comfortable when she arrived home. Mrs. Thompson and her daughter have been absent visiting friends, for about six weeks, and during their absence the house was closed.

When the lady went to the house she discovered that thieves had been through the house and ransacked it completely, from cellar to garrett. -Every drawer in the house, closet or cupboard, was opend and the contents scattered over the floor in the utmost confusion. -The bed clothes and wearing apparel of the ladies was also scattered over the floors, a large tin box containing private papers wag smashed to pieces, and the contents scattered all over the house. The parties were evidently after money and gave the house a complete searching. There is no positive clue to the housebreakers, but suspicion points to several young men who have since left town, and who it is picioned were the perpetrators of several robberies committed in this place within the last month.

The organization of a Board of Trade or Improvement Society in Indiana has been discussed among our business men for some months, but the discussion has had no practical results. The DEMOCRAT is strongly in favor of the organization of such a society, and tenders the use of its columns to those who interested in the matter.

We are satisfied that such an organization among our business men would be of incalculable benefit to Indiana and would be the means of correcting many abuses, encouraging manufacturing and possibly be the means of locating some large manufacturing establishment in our beautiful town. To bring this matter before our people in a proper light we will publish in our next issue the Constitution and" By-Laws of a similar organization in a neigh boring town, and we suggest that a public meeting be held in the Court House on the eyening of April 24th, the centennial anniversary of the inauguration of Washington, for the purpose of eliciting the opinions of Gtu fln important question. Wo un4err stand that the line is tq be laid into Blairsville first, and from there to Blacklick, Homer and Indiana. We were also informed that an 8 inch line would laid to Blairsville and a six inch branch line (o Indiana. This discrimination in favor of Blairsvillc we arc informed by MI expert gas man will result in giving that place a full supply of gas, while the supyly for Indiana, coming through a .6 inch pipe which will have branches several points along the line, cannot fail to be variable and at times too weak to supply the town.

We hope that the company will arrange their pipe lines so as to place all the different points to be Sjuftnllpd on an equal footing fat as regards a full and complete supply of gas.
