Sunday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon. Visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. www. mcfarlandfuneraichapel.com CLAYTON PARRIS ASHEVILLE Clayton Parris, 90, of 15 Briarwood Road, died Thursday, Jan.

3, 2008. Mr. Parris was born Nov. 13, 1917 in Buncombe County where he had lived most of his life. During World War II Clayton volunteered, but because he was a machinist they needed him stateside for defense work.

As a result he went to work at Wright's Automatic in Durham to work on projects related to the war. He retired from Ball Brothers manufacturing Company and the City of Asheville Inspection Department. He was also a retired real estate broker. He attended Code Enforcement Education Classes at UNC-Chapel Hill. Clayton was a charter member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and had previously served as the chairman of the deacon board, an usher and on different committees.

His parents, James Ervin and Delia Haney Parris preceded him in death as well as his wife, Ethel Louise Haney Parris who died in 2004. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Dennis and Glenn Parris and sisters, Lillian Redmon, Edith Parris and Gladys Parris. Surviving is his son, Johnnie Clayton Parris and wife, Jo Silver (Corn) Parris; sisters, Jennie Sluder and Ora Lee Sluder, both of Alexander; brother, Tony Parris also of Alexander; granddaughter, Missy Parris and husband. Roger Banks; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Parris. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m.

Sunday in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Weaverville with the Revs. Everette Haney and Randy Sluder officiating. Entombment will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. Serving as pallbearers will be: J.E. Sluder, Tweed Sluder, Bruce Redmon, Wayne Parris, Donald Redmon and Karsten Sluder.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Harold Rogers, Bob Embler, Richard Riddle, Perry Brindley, Jim Rogers, Mack Case, Harlon Hensley and Ed Ramsey. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at Mr. Parris' residence.

31, 2007, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Jackson County she had lived the past year in Anderson, S.C. Arlene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her hobbies were floral arrangements, word search books, reading and traveling, she was a sewing machine operator for Kaybee Mills, and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, daughter of the late Alex and Birdie Ertzburg Passmore. Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Lester Sorrells; two daughters, Rhonda Blanketship of Vass and Connie Gaddy of Thomasville; two sisters, Mary Ellen Adams of Morganton and Jackie Elliott of Pontiac, one brother, James Passmore of Franklin; four granddaughters, Aubrey, Paige, Evelyn and Angie; two grandsons, Jacob and Travis; and one great Jada. The funeral service will be 2 p.m.

TERRY P. STEPP HENDERSONVILLE Terry Paulette Stepp, 46, of Hendersonville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008. She died at the national Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md. She put up a tough, courageous fight to the finish, praising God and giving Him all of the glory until the end.

She was the daughter of Maxine Case Stepp, of Hendersonville, and the late Lawrence Stepp. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Larry Stepp, Courtenay Stepp and Steven Stepp. After becoming a Christian, she spent most of her time witnessing to others about Christ, bringing many of them to know her Lord and Savior. She was a very loving person who loved her family and friends dearly. She was an avid animal lover and tried to secure the best care and homes for all the animals she could.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Gail Goodson, and husband, Rex; her half-sister, Jeannie Robinson, and husband, Dean, all of Hendersonville; nine nieces and nephews, and 13 great-nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her very dear, extended family, her best friend, mentor and sister-inChrist, Jan Jarrett, and husband, Lowell; her friends, Tony and Kriss Raymond; her godchildren, Tori Alleigh Raymond; and her special friend, Don Coffey. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Bapt- ist Church of Hendersonville. The Revs.

Randy Shepherd and Jamie Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. PAMELA DEAN STEWART ASHEVILLE Pamela Dean Stewart, 52, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. She was born in Wilmington to Carlie E. Rich and Hattie Dean Morgan Church, who preceded her in death.

Pamela was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church and was employed by the ABC stores for over ten years. Survivors include her brother, C.W. Rich, and wife, Judy, of Swannanoa; nephews, John Finley, his partner, Selena, of Swannanoa, and their children, Jamie, Kimberly and Dominique, Phillip Finley, his wife, Teri, of Highpoint, and their son, Josh; cousin, Johnnie Dawkins, his wife, Judy, of Mills River, and their son, Britt. A memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn, with the Rev.

Maude resided with and was lovingly cared for by her nieces, Carolyn C.Nesbitt and Becky N. McIntosh, at Becky's Rest Home for nine years. Maude was cherished and lovingly taken care of by the staff of Becky's Rest Home. Maude was raised and formerly from Franklin. She was born Jan.

12, 1922. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vance and Laura Ramsey DeHart; husband, Thad Stockton; son, Thad Stockton seven sisters, Pauline Cook, Bedale Smith, Christine Guffey, Beulah Morgan, Mayberyl Bateman, Bonnie Jones, Gradu Conner; two brothers, Will DeHart and Creed DeHart. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Maude is survived by several nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. 4, 2008, at the Laurels at Summit Ridge. A native of Columbia, S.C., she had resided in Asheville most of her life and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mrs. Teague retired in 1979, following ten years of service with Square and formerly was employed as the Fountain manager at Eckerds Drug Store at K- Mart, Patton Avenue. She was a daughter of the late Robert Paul and Annie Berry Worrill, and the widow of Robert Edward Lee Teague.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Surviving are her daughters, Judy Greene and Cathy Herrick, both of Chattanooga, sons, Robert L. Teague, David H. Teague and James E. Teague, all of Asheville; sisters, Ruby Owens, of Ware Shoales, S.C., and Ruth Poteete, of Asheville; eight grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Home, with Mr. L. Teague and Chaplain George Holley officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

BOYD WHEELER BURNSVILLE Boyd Wheeler, 84, of Pine Swamp, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John Moss and Rosie Ella Berry Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Bertha Bailey Wheeler, who died July 19, 2007, and a brother, Lloyd Wheeler. Boyd was a truck driver and businessman. He drove for Banco and TransLumber, and owned Wheeler Trailer Park. Boyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a friend to all. Surviving are two sons, J.
