Theater wtes Busy week on the boards It's one of those rare busy weeks for theater in the Valley, beginning with a one night performance by Valeric Harper and Anthony Zerbe in Jerome Kilty's "Dear Liar." The 8 p.m. Symphony Hall show is sponsored by Phoenix Arts Coming Together. Also Wednesday at ASU, the Student Experimental Theater, under the direction of Jamie Griffis, will present Jean Claude van Itallies "America Hurrah." Consisting of three one act plays, the show is billed for "adults" and includes a cast of Kristina Coggins, Russell Fega, Stephen Houtz, Robin May, George NeJame, Tom Noga, Nancy Poulos, Debra Smith-Alvarado and Charles Thomas. Thursday Mesa Community College will open a five day run of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible." The play centers around the Salem witch trials of 1692. Keith Berger, a pan- tomimist, will present an 8 p.m.

program Thursday at Gammage. Berger was recently featured at the Kennedy Center foyer concerts during President Carter's Inauguration fes-. tivities. Phoenix Little Theater will open a three weekend run of another Miller play, the classic "Death of a Salesman," Thursday, featuring a cast of Bill Estes, Judith Scovern, Tftusic notes Maruja Vargas and her Spanish dance company, Compania del Oro, will join the People's Pops for a 7 p.m. concert today in Symphony Hall.

Folksongs, native dances and popular Hungarian melodies will be presented at Gammage Tuesday, 8 p.m., by the Rajko Hungarian Gypsy Orchestra and Dancers. Wednesday at Gammage, it's the annual visit by Fred Waring and his Young Pennsylvanians. The 8 show will include music selected from some 70 Waring albums over the last 61 years. In Tucson on Saturday, a series of eight concerts covering the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven will begin, 8 p.m. in the Temple of Music and Art.

Ronald Jacobowitz will perform the works and season tickets are available by calling the Temple of Music and Art box office. The music of Arizona, composer Joseph Perley Lewis will be presented in a 3 p.m. concert today at the First Con-' grcgational Church. Sponsored by the Musician's Club of Phoenix, the concert will showcase "Behind the Front Door," featuring violinist Henry H. Listiak, cellist Diana Hart and pianist Deborah Engelsman.

The Glendale Choral Society, sponsored by the city of Glendale, is currently rehearsing on Tuesdays in the Glendale First United Methodist Church fellowship hall. No auditions are required and all persons interested in singing are invited to participate. Anna Russell, the comic who parodies opera, will appear in concert at Scottsdale Center For The Arts on Feb. 27, at 8 p.m. in a benefit for Friends Of Our Little Brothers (Father Wasson's 1,300 orphans).
