Smith talked about how he doesn't feel like an asset for the team. The next step, of course, is demanding his departure from the Panthers. It's true that Smith hasn't been involved in the offense this season, but that blame falls on his quarterback Jake Delhomme. And even with Delhomme's struggles, Smith is still enough of a threat to draw defensive attention away from the suddenly blooming run game. He's still an asset.
