Isaac P. Rathbone CLYDE, Nov. 23-Funeral services for Isaac P. (Ike) Rathbone, 74, who died yesterday at his home on Clyde RFD 1, will be held Friay at 10:30 a.m. at the Lower Fines Creek Methodist Church.

Army retired, died yesterday of a coronary occlusion in his home at 200 Kimberly Avenue. Irwin was a of President Eisenhower a Point. classmats, He alse his wife moved to Asheville in 1952. He retired that year while serving, as commander of U. S.

in Austria. Irwin was the son of Maj. Gen. George Leroy and Maria Elizabeth Barker Irwin and was born at Fort Monroe, Va. He graduated from the U.

S. Military Academy in 1915 and was also a graduate of the Field Artillery and Command and General Staff schools. Irwin was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1915 and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in 1950. After serving in the 1916 Mexican expeditionary force and World Var Irwin was an artillery officer with the Ninth Infantry Division in and was later commander Africa. Fifth Infantry Division and A Corps in World War II.

It was while he was commanding general of the U. S. forces in Austria that he suffered a heart attack and was returned to this country and to Asheville where he was retired on May 31, 1952. He received the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver, Star for gallantry in actions, Legion of Merit, the Medal with two oak leaf clusters, five campaign ribbon with battle stars and the commendation ribbon. In addition, he received foreign decorations including the Frencn Officer Legion of Honor, the French Croix de Guerre and the British Military Cross.

He was an artist of some repute, having won several awards for his water colors. His first wife, the former Miss Helen Hall. whom he married in 1921. died in 1937. His second marriage.

in 1941 was to Miss Clare Moran, who survives. Funeral services will be held Friday in Arlington National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be West Point classmates. Survivors. in addition to the widow, include two sons.

Stafford D'Arcy Irwin of Asheville and Francis LeRoy Irwin: a daughter, Miss Sylvia Gerde Irwin of Ashe- Witnesses Say Hair Treatment Helped Baldness CHARLOTTE, Nov. 23 (P A number of witnesses told a Federal Trade Commission trial examiner here today that a hair treatment preparation sold them by a Texas man nas restored their hair. The testimony was taken by FTC Trial Examiner Everett F. Haycraft in behalf of William Loesch of Houston, Tex. The FTC has charged Loesch with false advertising in connection with his product.

In earlier hearings, the FTC heard witnesses at New government, and Chicago. Further hearings for defense, witnesses will be in St. Louis, Little Rock and other points in the South and West. Ten defense witnesses were heard today, including mill workers, ministers, salesmen and one bank president. They said they visited Loesch at local hotels on periodic dates and purchased a series of hair treatments.

All testified they now have more hair than they did when they began the treatments. They also testified that dandruff disappeared and falling. hair dropped to a minimum. W. E.

B. Tayler of Raleigh has been named federal veterinary inspector-incharge for North Carolina. Dr. Tayler, who has been assistant inspector-in-charge for this state since 1939, succeeds Dr. Adam A.

Husman, who recently retired after nearly 32 years of service in North Carolina. In his new position, Dr. Tyler will direct federal livestock sanitary activities in North Carolina, working in cooperation with the Veterinary Division of the State Department of Agriculture headed by Dr. J. Rollins.
