Chances are the jingles and the background music you hum or sing along to were created in a two-story house in Arden that serve as headquarters for VTS Productions. Created in 1978 by Asheville native Hal Brown, VTS Productions creates and produces music for the television and radio industry.

Its sister company, VTS Music, was formed in 1964 and primarily does voice-overs for commercials while the productions division produces local and national promotion campaigns, background -music, television show themes and movie scores. The most recognizable area promotion that VTS created is the "That's The Spirit" campaign for WYFF television station in Greenville, S.C. While the creation of ideas is done in Arden, the actual production is done at the company's facilities in Dallas, Texas. While this sometimes poses a challenge in transferring materials and personnel, Brown wouldn't have it any other way. "This area is a great place to live and it is good for creativity," he said.
