In Raleigh, where he is attending the ACC basketball tournament, Giese explained the "circumstances beyond his control" by saying a "splinter group with an apparent ax to grind" had been operating with the apparent purpose of "making my situation untenable." He said that last December his harrassment reached such a stage that ha got three anonymous telephone calls at home, threatening him. One caller advised him to get out of town, or "we'll kill you." Ha said these calls disturbed Mrs.
