The survey will be conducted by fire prevention bureau officers experienced in building inspection. Exteriors, basements, and hallways will be inspected first.

A later survey will be made of some apartments and other interiors. Tells Survey Purpose "The purpose of the survey is to gather information on the condition of each building, which is necessary to develop the detailed project plan," said John Duba, chairman of the urban renewal department. Deteriorated structures will be identified and proposed for clearance. Duba said. From the surveys, standards will be developed for property owners to qualify for special federal home administration mortgages for rehabilitation purposes.

The survey will cover an area of 266 acres bounded by-Webster avenue on the north, Lincoln Park West and Clark street on the east, North and Armitage avenues on the south, and Halsted street and the extended alley between Vine and Larrabee streets on the west. Carry I. D. Cards The fire prevention bureau officers making the survey will be in uniform. They will carry identification as members of the bureau and letters of introduction from Duba.
