THE rfAXD XSATCUCLiOR'S UAIIX DTB serial SjtofeeV latest: news at I JB 12 Jl JP 11 TO THE FREE PRESS FIRST NATIONAL, BANK. GENTS DRESS BOOTS. FLANAGAN ST ORBS, DXJLLKB3 IS i REASONS Wlir THE AMERICAN WATCH Made at Waltham Rlass. 18 THE BEST. i It is made on the best principle.

Its frame is com posed of Solid Plates, no jar can interfere With the harmony of its working and no sudden shock can damage its machinery. Every piece Is made and finished by machinery (itself famous for its novelty as well as for its affectlveness) and therefore pro perly made. The watch is what air mechanism should be--accurate, simple, strong and economical Except some high grades too costly for 'general use, foreign watches are chiefly made by women and boys. Such watches are composed of several hundred pieces, screwed and riveted together, and require constant repairs ts keep, them in any kind of order. All persons who have carried 'anoresn English Patent Levers," are per fectly well aware of the truth of this statement.

At the beginning of our enterprise more than ten years ago, it was our first object to make a thorough ly good low priced watch for the million, to take the place of these foreign impositions the refuse ot foreign factories, which were entirely unsaleable at home and perlectly worthless every where. How well we have accomplished this, may be understood from the fact that after so maby; years Of public trial, we now make more than half of the watches sold in the United and that no others have ever given such universal satisfaction While this department of our business is continued With increased facilities for perfect work, we are at present engaged in the manufacture of watches of the very highest grade known to chronometer nn-equaled by anything made in the world. For this purpose we have the amplest facilities. We have erected an addition to our main building expressly for this branch of our business, and have filled it with the best workmen in our service. New ma chines and appliances have been constructed which perform their wofk with consumate delicacy and exactness.

The choicest and most approved materials only are used, and we challenge comparison between this grade of our work and the finest imported chronometers, We do not pretent to sell our watches for less money than foreign watches, but we do assert without fear of contradiction that for the same money our product is incomparably superior. All our watches, of whatever grade, are fully warranted, and this warrantee is good at all times against us or our agents in all parts of the world. CAUTION. The public are cautioned to buy only of respectable dealers. All persons selling counterfeits willbe prosecuted.

ROBCINS, APPLETON Jt CO. Agents for the American Watch Company. 153 Washington, St. Boston, Oct 15 dawlm. HEAT AND EXHAUSTION IT RE- quires a constitution and physique or unusual strength to resist the effect of the enervating but of July and August.

Unless the system is toned and sustained by a wholsome stomachic during these oppressive months it is likely to be so severe- 1 debilitated as to render it an easy prey to the epidemics which prevail in the falL "A wholesome stomachic wb ere is it to be found ask the read er, who has, perhaps, been told by his physician that a litte good brandy is a serviceable stimulant, and has sought for that obsolete article in vain. It would be as idle to expect wholtsomtntis and purity among the liquors of commerce as to look tor miracles of viety in the State prison or wisdom in an idiot asylum. There is one safe resource but one for those who need a protective tonic and health-sustaining in viffnrant. Let them commence at once, as the tor rid season opens in all its Intensity, a course ol HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS. Ask the returned officers and soldiers of the I'nlon army, who have used this elixir during the war, what thty think of It.

They will tell you that it keeps up the vital forces under the wilting beams of a verticle sun without vitiating the blood or creating anv undue excitement in the circulation. As the poet Cowper said of tea, "It cheers, but not inebriates." It braces the nervous organization and regulates all the functions of the body. No other stimulant can compare in purity with the Essence of Rye, which forms its basis, and the tonic, aperient anti-bilious herbs with which it is medicated are the best of their kind on the face of the earth.
