bii 1 to abolish the western district of Ar- ".7 TO cover snon saies Gen. Henry for Senator. To the Editor of the Free Press and Times. Sir. The question of tho representation, in the Senate of erraont.of the city of Burlington, is one of considerable importance, and the choice of a candidate should excite the consideration of every interested citizen.

Through the medium of tho press is a proper means of giving expression as to who is a proper and fit person for that position, and ono entitled to the cordial support of the citizens of Burlington, and Mr. Editor, while stating an individual opinion regarding tho qualifications requisite in a person for that office, 1 am convinced that the greater number of the voters of our city will concur in proclaiming General Win. W. Henry as essentially qualified, able, and deserving of the honor. In the selection of our candidate, for the representation of this, the metropolitan city of Vermont.and at a time too when vas tcn-terpriscs, calculated to benefit every resident of tho State, and more especially of this place, are being strongly agitated; it is necessary and expected that wc should, by motives of unselfishness and mutual good, come to tho support of a citizen who is daily identifying himself with projects for the promotion of our common and best interests.

(Jen. Henry is a soldier of our glorious North, a man possessed of sterling qualities a man of tho people and for the people practicable in every essential, keen in business, and fairly read in politics; and, besides his useful record of the past, we find him associated and in the same board with men contemplating the early construction of the Caughnawaga Canal, an enterprise so promising and fraught with inestimable benefits for the future of our State that it should excite in tho heart of every man a sense of gratitude towards the advocates and projectors of that grand work. Therefore, Mr. Editor, I leave it to the solid and thinking men of Burlington, is not Gen-. Ileury entitled to our warmest support? and should he not receive it It will be obvious upon reflection that he is, and as such, prove to be the right man in the right place.

It is to be hoped that the action of the Republican caucus, which is to beheld to-morrow night, will not be marked by on error of judgment on the part of our fellow-citizens in nominating a man, whose name has already appeared in your columns but whose want ot participation and knowledge in our public affairs, in our improvements and enterprises, is the most modest denial of his claim upon tho voters of Burlington for the support which he greatly desires to have extended him io. the coming contest. Gen. Henry has many preponderating qualitications in his favor, and 1 trust that they will be appreciated by his fellow-citizens, and that his manly voice and brave heart will be heard and felt within the walls of our Senate chamber.
