Ufi Gov. Herman E. Talmadge of Georgia declared today thai a Supreme Court decision to end racial seg regation in Southern schools woul be "nothing less than a major step toward national suicide." Talmadge, chairman of th.

Southern Governors Conference said any such "political decision' by the high court would "the most foolhardy sociologica calamity in our national history. "Wholly Unrealistic" "Nothing coujd injure our na tional strength more than a bla tantly unconstitutional and wholly unrealistic ruling by the Supreme Court outlawing state control ove: education," he said in addres: prepared for the opening session of the Southern governors' ann meeting. The Supreme Court has scheduled December hearings on racial segregation cases which have aroused most of the Dixie governors. There have been moves in South Carolina toward setting up a private school system if the court holds that Negroes must be admitted to white schools.

Forrest W. Cooper Files Divorce Suit- Forrest W. Cooper has filed suit for divorce from Mrs. Glenua Mae Cooper of Tacoma, in Circuit Court here. The Coopers were married in Tampa, June 2, 1950, according to his petition, and separated last May 11.

Sarkis of St. Louis seeks information about his wife, Billie June Rose (above), who wandered away -from home last- Sept. 24. The Syrian husband thinks his Irish wife may have come to this part of Missouri. They have two sons, 1 years and 9 months old.

Mrs. Sarkis was wearing eight or ten diamond rings when she disappeared. Her ears are pierced for diarnond earrings she wore. She is 33 years old, five feet, two inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. She usually wears a patch on her left forearm to conceal a tattoo.

Libhart, pastor of First Christian Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery in Macon. Policeman Arrests Deputy Sheriff, But With Some Trouble ST. LOUIS HI Patrolman John Bamvakias arrested Deputy Sheriff Richard J. ZeE yesterday for improper parking.

Here's how: Bamvakias, who was off duty, noticed a car double-parked in front of his home. Identifying himself as a police officer, Bam va'kias asked the driver to park properly. He said the driver replied he was a Louis deputy sheriff and could park anywhere he pleased. Bamvakias said Zell refused to get out of his car. The police officer, using force to get Zell out of the car, took the deputy sheriff to his district station.

Zell was booked suspected of improper parking, general peace disturbance and resisting arrest. Hunt Set for Thursday A charge of assault with intent to kill was filed Saturday afternoon against Lester Cleveland Hunt, 66, south of Higbee, in the stabbing of Roy P. Cabel, 207 South Ault street, during a fight Friday night in the Whiteway Cafe, 118 North Clark street- Hunt's preliminary hearing on the charge has been set for 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in magistrate court. He did not make a bond set at $5,000 and he is being held in the county jail. Has Knife Wounds Cabel, 41-year-old operator of the iities Service station at 100 Johnson street, is in hospital with knife wounds in his chest and abdomen. His condition this morning was reported to be good.

Joe Rickey, 812 Greeley street, who was arrested with Hunt by ie Moberly police Friday night, is jeing held as material witness in he case. He is at liberty on a :2,000 bond. Tells of Stabbing The police officers found Cabel, bleeding and unconscious, on the sidewalk at Reed and Clark streets after a fight in the cafe that ap- parently involved several men. Cabel told Prosecuting Attorney John F. Carmody and Sheriff Amos Magruder that Hunt stabbed him.

Rickey and Louis Kirkemloll, Route 2, Moberly, had had trouble. Cabel said Johnny Ames, Route 3, Moberly, was annoying him and Cabel knocked him down. It was then, Cabel said, a Hunt attacked him with a single- bladed, white-handled knife. Officers have not found the knife. School Board Meeting Postponed to Nov.

10 The regular first Tuesday meeting of the board of education has been postponed to Nov. 10 because of the state teachers convention. Superintendent of Schools Carl Henderson said today. Henderson, a member of the State Teachers Association executive committee, will leave for St. Louis Tuesday night to attend committee meetings Wednesday.

The convention will open Thursday. Madison Couple Parents Of Daughter, 6th Child An 8-pound, 11-ounce daughter was born at 10:43 o'clock Saturday morning in Woodland Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. William Cooper, Route 2, Madison. She has been named Rebecca Lynn.
