Sunday, Dec. 8, 1991 City observes 'Day of Saturday ceremonies commemorating the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor turned back the clock for many of those participating. Sponsored by the City of Kokomo and the Howard County Council of Clubs, the events kicked off Friday, with videotape showings and memorabilia displays all day both days. Church bells rang in the anniversary of "the day of infamy," and a flag-raising ceremony, presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151, began Saturday's events. After a memorial ceremony at Kokomo High School south campus, it was parade time complete with armed service veterans marching through the uptown area.

The events ended with retreat, at approximately 2:30 p.m., including the playing of Taps and a 21-gun salute.
