Carl Belcher Greer Carl Lewis "Jake" Belcher, 89, widely known and highly respected resident of upper Greenville County, died Sunday, Novem- ber 30, 2008, in Greer. He was the widower Moaitt Belchand son the late Lewis and Nancy Lula Howard Belcher. Jake was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph "Charlie" Belcher of Greer and Arnold Belcher of Palm Coast, Florida. During his long and full lifetime, he farmed, worked in textiles at Greer Mill and retired as a master carpenter with the School District of Greenville County. Jake was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.

He was a combat veteran of the United States Army, serving in Europe during the Second World War, where he was wounded during enemy attack. He leaves behind his three sons and their respective families: Myron Belcher of Taylors, Devon Belcher of Greenville and Emil D. Belcher of St. Augustine, Florida. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2008, from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

at Wood Mortuary in Greer, followed by a graveside service at Camp Creek Baptist Church at 2 p.m., with Evangelist Marvin Vest officiating. The families are at their respective homes. Bernard Black Prosperity Bernard Lemead Black, 76, of 258 Lakewood died Monday, December 1, 2008, at his residence. Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Wilbur M. and Ida Mae Lake Black, he was the husband of Peggy Duffie Black. He was a former salesman with Spartan Mills and Grain Co. and was a member of Butler United Methodist Church, where he had served as a trustee, a delegate to the Annual Methodist Conference and a member of the Church Board.

Mr. Black served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from service, he joined and began 40 years of service with the American Legion. He was a member of Saluda Post 65, where he served as Post Commander and as chairman of numerous Post committees; he served as District Four Commander and Zone Vice Commander; he was Department Commander in 1983 1984 and National Vice Commander in 1985 1986 and he served as Department Adjutant of The American Legion, Department of South Carolina, from 1986 until 1996 when he retired.

He was an IPTAY Representative Emeritus for Clemson University. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Duffie Black; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony L. and Cheryl M. Black of Saluda; two brothers, Eldred Black of Beech Island and Arvid Black of Saluda; and a sister, Lou Dell Oxner of Newberry. A daughter, Crystal L.

Black, and a brother, Verley Black, preceded Mr. Black in death. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Butler United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lee Cothran officiating.

Robert N. Davis Greer Robert Newman Davis, 73, of 147 Cathedral View, was eternally healed on December 1, 2008. A native of Flatwood community in Spartanburg County, son of the late James Lamar and Bonnie Massengale Davis, he was a la Williams, David C. Dodd, Michelle Dodd and Nicole Dodd; eight great-grandchildren, Kassidy, Austin, and Clay Williams, Carlyle Dodd, Aubrie Jones, Cody and Stephen Breeding and Cheyanne McGaha; a brother, Aurthur Patrick Dodd; and a sister, Jenny Stewart. Goud, wife of Allan F. Goud, who was first married to the late Charles E. Moore died Saturday, November 29, 2008. She was born in Seaford, Delaware, the daughter of the late Ernest Jewel Hardesty and Amelia Marvel Jones Hardesty. Mrs.

Goud was a retired schoolteacher, having taught English for many years in the Kershaw County School System. She was a graduate of Seaford fligh School, Women's College of the University of Delaware and the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Goud was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, the Altar Guild, Grace Episcopal Church Women, Camden Country Club, Springdale Hall Club, former Delta Kappa Gamma member and the Third Thursday Book Club. Surviving are her husband, Allan F.

Goud; children, Charles E. Moore Jr. and his wife June, Julia McAfee and her husband Cole, and Amelia Moore; grandchildren, Charlotte, Charles and Reed Moore, Mallory and Kayla McAfee, Elizabeth, Andrew and Robert Hirata; stepchildren, Allan Goud Elizabeth Goud Patterson, Richard Goud and his wife Eleanor, and Margaret Collins and her husband John; and six stepgrandchildren. Born August 26, 1918, in Marceline, Maj. Fred Edwin Aiken Sr. Mauldin Major Fred Edwin Aiken, Retired Army, 76, of Mauldin, husband of Jean Martin Aiken, died Sunday, November 30, 2008. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Charlie M. and Corrie Hannon Aiken.

Mr. Aiken was owner of Aiken Enterprise Inc. and a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Military Officers Association and the American Legion Post He loved the beach, traveling and flying. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, son-in-law and grandsons, Julie Aiken, Rodney, and Reid and Cole Latham of Anderson; a son, F.

Edwin Aiken Jr. of Cleveland; a sister, Doris Reeves of Greenville; and two brothers, Joe and Wayne Aiken, both of Greenville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Aiken. Memorials may be made to Mauldin United Methodist Church, 100 E. B.C. Alexander Pickens B.C. Alexander, 81, son of the late Seaborn Alexander and Daisey Willimon, passed at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Alexander was a member of First Baptist Church, Pickens, and was retired from Singer Manufacturing.

He is survived by his wife of 63 Frances Anthony Alexander, daughter, Sandra Pace DeWitt) of Greensboro, N.C.; grandson, James DeWitt Pace II (Angie) of Reidsville, N.C.; granddaughters, Lori Anna Pace Rinchiuso (Ron) of. Reidsville, N.C., and Christina Alexander Mitros (Ashley) of Simpsonville; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Dillon, Jessica, Jake, Olivia and Cameron; and sisters, Elizabeth Brewer, Faye Maxwell and Joan Moore, all of Pickens. Mr. Alexander was preceded by sons, Allen Alexander and Ben Ray Alexander; brothers, Edward Alexander and Morris Alexander; and sister, Mildred Al- he was the son of the late Thurman A. and Hazel Bunch Hosford.

He was a retired branch manager for Commercial Union Insurance Company in Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Hosford served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941- 1946, during which time he served in the European Theatre and retired from the Army Reserve with the rank of major. He was a member of Heritage Bible Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Frances Martin Hosford. Surviving are his daughter, Gayle Wilkin, and her husband Dan, and his granddaughter and grandson, Rebecca L. Wilkin and David C. Wilkin. Services will be conducted Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 2 p.m.

at The Mackey Mortuary, with Reverend Fred Davis officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family is at the home of his daughter, 103 Gavins Point and will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Mr. Davis was predeceased by a son, Robert Michael Davis; a grandson, Justin Arnold; and a brother, Wayne Davis. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m.

Wednesday at Praise Cathedral, conducted by Rev. Jerry Madden and Rev. Bobby Johnson. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m.

Born in burg, he was a of the Dodd, Jullian Betpassed No- Spartanson late Katie Dodd. Mr. Dodd was retired Instrument Superintendent with International Paper Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II.

Surviving, in addition to his loving wife of 61 years, are two daughters, Teressa Bailey and Patricia Gibson and her husband Carl; a son, Kenny Dodd and Brenda Bowers; five grandchil- Hazle G. Madsen Fairview, N.C. Hazle G. Madsen, beloved daughter of Mittsy and W.0. Groce, passed away November 30, 2008, at Fletchers in Fairview, N.C.

Mrs. Madsen was born December 10, 1910. She was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church, where she played the piano for the kindergarten program. She is survived by her son, Otis D. "Skip" Gorman, and a special friend, Myra Cordell.

She was a lifelong member of the Crescent Music Club, where she served as president and historian. She was awarded Honorary Life Member of the S.C. and National Federation of Music Clubs. She was also given the distinction of The Order of the Crescent. Due to her sudden death, memorial services will be held and announced at at later date.

At. Mrs. Madsen's request, her body was donated to MUSC. She also requested that memorials be made to Crescent Music Club, 24 La Vista Court, Greenville, SC 29601. John L.

Moon Greenville John Louis Moon, formerly of 6 Dagen- of W. er of ham Drive, died December 1, 2008, at Summit Place. A native of Greenville County, son of the late Avery and Hattie Rodgers Moon, he was a disabled U.S. Toby E. Looney Piedmont Toby Elford Looney, 70, of 306 Moody Road, died Monday, December 1, 2008, at his home.

Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Joe Paul Looney and Reba Hollingsworth Davis. He was the owner of P.T. Motors, a U.S. Navy veteran having served on the USS Intrepid and a Baptist. Surviving are his three girls, his wife, Joanna Pittman Looney of the home, and daughters, Pamela Holcombe of Greenville and Sherry Looney of Piedmont; brothers, Joe Paul Davis of Piedmont and James Looney of Fountain Inn; and multiple projects still in progress.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer, with Rev. Robert Griswold officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home and will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Moon was predeceased by one brother, Clyde Moon, and one sister, Addie Sue Moon. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m.
