CARTOON San Mateo. 12- year-old boy is under arrest in San Mateo, California, after he confessed that he started fires which caused approximately one-half million dollars loss. The youth, Lloyd Sharp, says he ignited the fires bocause he "liked to watch 'em burn." The boy, described by police as a troublesome kind, complains that they were pretty tough to start. He reportedly has confessed to igniting five recent fires in San Mateo and one in Reno, Nevada.

His arrest came after he allegedly started a $200,000 blaze which destroyed the Pederson and Arnold planing mill Saturday night in San Mateo. On each occasion the youth used an ingenious time fuse consisting of newspapers containing a roll of earth which delayed the fire until he could establish an alibi. Police say the boy has a lony record of juvenile offenses. He was released from the San Mateo county juvenile home in January after having been committed for auto theft Hennlck's Flower Shop. Ph.

There must be some principle of design behind it that makes it easy to look at. Try this "rhythmic" pattern for occasional variety.

There are two kinds of rhythm wavy lines and repe- t.ltJnn. Of the two, repetition is the most useful. To be on the safe side, keep your rhythmic arrangements simple, and put them into flowing pottery containers that have a ruyth mlc feeling themselves. Here's an excellent example by Alyn Wayne, official stylist of Florist Telegraphic Delivery, using pink carnations, white carnations and pink roses, repeating almost equal masses of dissimilar design. The contrast of white against the matching pink at either end gives this design added strength and vigor.
