The bureau of the budget wouiS have no authority to reduce the hu'al estimates of the District corny missioners should a bill introduced in the House yesterday by Representative R. Walton Moore, of Virginia, become law. Mr. Moore believes budget law a. good one, but is of the opinion that it ought not to apply to appropriations for the District of Co- lumb.ia.

A bill similar to that proposed By Representative Moore may be introduced in the Senate. Should such a. bill be introduced there may be an effort made to have it tacked to the so-called conference tax amendment i the 1823 District appropriation bilh Cat Items $2,800,000. Mr. Moore recalled yesterday thij the 1923 estimates of the District commissioners were cut by the bureau of the budget over The commissioners requested the sulji committee headed Representative Davis of Minnesota to consider items which had been eliminated and reduced by the budget bureau, but the subcommittee refused to comply with the suggestion.

"Very many of the eliminations and reductions were of estimates proposed for street repair and street construction, but the committee took the view that there was such sanctity attaching to the conclusions of tha bureau as to preclude any interfere ence with them," said Moore.
