Deaths And Funerals Green Infant HAZELWOOD -The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny M. Green of 221 Welch died Wednesday morning in Haywood County hospital. Surviving in addition to the parents are sister, Sherry Lynn and a brother, Johnny Mack Green both of the home; the grandparents, Mr.

and Mrs. Woodrow Green of Hazelwood; and Mrs. Jimmy Ledford of Forest City. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in Green Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Carl Presnell.

Garrett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Hardy Moore CLYDE Services for Hardy Moore, 79, of Rt. 3, who died Tuesday, will be held at p. m. Friday in Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church.

The Rev. Jarvis Teague, the Rev. Jesse Hollinghworth and Capt. A. C.

Sigmon will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Milas, Thomas and Roger Rathbone, Charles and David Moore and Edgar Haney. Mr. Moore was a native of Haywood County, retired farmer and a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lizzie Kirkpatrick Moore; two sons, Dee of Martez, Calif. and Wayne Moore of Clyde Rt. daughter, Jack Lowe of Winston Salem; four brothers, of Pacelot, S. Dock of Marion, Tommy of Clyde and Charlie Moore of Concord; 11 and seven great grandchildren.

The body will remain at Crawford Funeral Home, Waynesville, until 30 minutes prior to the services. Vincent Crisp Home is in charge of arrangements. Plemmons June E. Plemmons, $3, of Longview West Asheville, died Wednesday afternoon in local hospital after short illness. Groce Funeral Home will anpounce arrangements. WAYNESVILLE Vincent Virgil Crisp, 52, of Rt. 1, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday morning.

He was a native of Swain County, a Dayco Southern employe and a member of Bryson City Masonic Lodge. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Hazel Estes Crisp; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Hall of Waynesville; the parents, Mr. and Mrs.

L. Crisp of Bryson City; a sister, Mrs. W. 0. Wilson of Bryson City.

Services will be held at 1 p. m. Friday in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Virgil Holloway will officiate.

Masonic graveside services will be conducted at p.m. in Swain Memorial Gardens, Bryson City, by the Rev. John Bowden, a fellow Mason. Pallbearers will be Verlin Estes, William Fish, Nathan Norman, Richard Crisp, Ray Heffner and Robert Eller. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.

Ernestine Henderson of Lake Toxaway and Mrs. Agnes Hardy of East Flat Rock; and 12 grandchildren. Services will be held at 2. p. m.

Friday in Oak Grove Baptist Church of which he was a member. The Rev. Kermit Reece, the Rev. Gene Henson and the Rev. Jack Plemmons will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Brevard American Legion Post, who will serve as pallbearers. Clinton C. Wright Clinton Wright, 61, of Asheville Rt. 8, died Tuesday in a local nursing home after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and carpenter. Surviving are a brother, Clyde F.

Wright of Asheville; two sisters, Mrs. Dewey Bryan of Candler and Mrs. Robert Ballard of Arden; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home.

Thursday in Montford Cove Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Ford, the Rev. Bruce Mathis and the Rev. Dillard Hall will officiate.

Jeff Freeman MARSHALL Jeff Freeman, 87, of Rt. 1, died Tuesday night at his home after a short illness. He was a retired farmer, a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving are a brother, Mitch S. Freeman of Marshall Rt. and a sister, Mrs. Rita Whaley of Sevierville, Tenn. Services will be held at 2 p.m.

Maggie Orr Services were held Wednesday in Columbia, S. C. for Mrs. Maggie Orr, 60, who died unexpectedly Monday in Columbia. Mrs.

Orr, frequent visitor to Asheville, is survived by several relatives in the Asheville area. Clyde D. Riddle Clyde D. Riddle, 63, of Tipton Road, Leicester, formerly of Democrat, died Wednesday morning in an Asheville hospital after short illness. He was retired painter and farmer.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mrs. Bertie Rice Riddle; six daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Baughman and Mrs. Jane Green, both of Connelly Springs, Mrs.

Polly Goforth of Chicago, Mrs. Patsy Revis and Mrs. Joe Edith Revis, both Asheville and Miss Jean Riddle of the home; three sons, Paul, Billy and Jackie Riddle, all of Asheville; the mother, Mrs. Ella Riddle of Connelly Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Jamie Howard of Skyland and Mrs.

J. M. Lowman of Connelly Springs; and 14 grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Funeral 1 Home, Weaverville.

Thelma Stepp, both of Asheville and Mrs. Irene Cantwell of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren and 10 greatI grandchildren. Joe M. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, a retired rockmason and farmer.

Norris BOONE William Clint Norris, 81, of Boone, died Wednesday in a Watauga County hospital after a period of declining health. He was a native of Watauga County, a retired Boone man and a farmer. m. Saturday in Perkinsville Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Mt. Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.

Mrs. Iva Lewis FRANKLIN Services for Mrs. Iva Jean Frady Lewis, 39, of San Francisco, a Macon County native, who died Jan. 1 in San Francisco, will be held at 3:30 p. m.

Thursday in Sugar Fork Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Crayton, pastor, and the Rev. Fred Sorrells will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will remain at Bryant Funeral Home until the hour of the services. Rutherford Man Killed In Accident Albert William Logan, 38, of E. and Rutherfordton, was killed instantly Wednesday night in a pedestrian accident on U. S. Highway 221 about half mile north of Rutherfordton.

State Highway Patrolman Gary Church said Logan was struck while walking along the roadside about 6:45 p. m. by a truck driven by Russell Floyd Bennick, 25, of Carolee, N. C. Church said the truck was engaged in passing another vehicle when it hit Logan, who was walking with two companions on the left side of the highway.

Church added that there was no sign of speeding and that darkness was a factor. The SHP is continuing its inI vestigation of the fatality. RALEIGH (AP) William Pleasant (Bill) Sharpe, 66, editor and publisher of the State magazine, died Tuesday night. He will be buried Thursday in Raleigh Memorial Cemetery. Sharpe, author, former newspaperman and publicist for the State of North Carolina, died in Rex Hospital at Raleigh after suffering injuries several hours earlier in a fall at his home.

According to friends of the family, Sharpe suffered a blackout Tuesday morning and fell, striking his head. He underwent an operation Tuesday afternocn at the hospital. A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Sharpe formerly worked on two newspapers at Winston Salem and one in New Orleans, La. At the age of 22, he became aging editor of the Winston-Salem Journal. Later he moved U.

Va. Council Elects Negro President CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) The University of Virginia Student Council elected its first Negro president Tuesday night. James R. Roebuck Jr.

Man Injured In Fall Dies An Asheville man who fell down three flights of stairs his home Saturday died in Memorial Mission Hospital Tuesday from injuries received in the accident. J. Williams Dies In S. C. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) Former South Carolina Gov.

Ransome J. Williams, 78, who was chief executive in 1945 and 1946, died Wednesday night at a Myrtle Beach Hospital. Williams, by profession a druggist, had business interests at Mullins but became a resident of this coastal resort after leaving the governor's office. A native of Cope, he had been in failing health for several years. He had insurance and real estate interests.

He became lieutenant governor in 1943 for a four-year term, and succeeded to the governorship Jan. 2, 1945, when Gov. Olin D. Johnston resigned on winning election to the U.S. Senate.

Williams was one of 11 candidates who sought the governor's chair in the 1946 Democratic primary, but he failed to make the runoff election that was won by Strom Thurmond. Williams was a graduate of the School of Pharmacy of the South Carolina Medical College in 1914, and he operated a drug store at Mullins for many years. Funeral arrangements were incomplete.
