9. (Special)-Miss Dorothy Lee Hagler, of Gastonia Black Mountain and Clarence Franklin Gregory of Richmend. were married at 8 o'clock September 5 at. the First Baptist church Black Mountain. The bride is the daughter and Mrs.

Sebe Blair Hagler, of Gastonia, who have a summer home in Black Mountain The candle-lit church was, decorated with masses of pine and large baskets of white gladioli were banked oh. each side of the platform. The ceremony was performed by the pastor of the church, the Rev. Ottis J. Hagler, brother of the bride, who used the ring ceremony.

Preceding the appearance of the bridal party, Miss Lee Liles. Shelby, N. Sweet Marraret, Mystery of "It God Left Only You" and accompanied at the piano by Mrs. W. E.

Vernon, of Black Mountain, who played appropriate music during the ceremony. Enters With The bride, who entered on the arm of her father, wore a gown of old ivory satin made Empire style extending to form train. Her veil was of tulle with a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of sweetheart roses, with 8 shower of tuberoses and lilies of the valley. The matron of honor, Mrs.

Woodrow Miles, sister of the bride, wore A gown of Bleu de France taffeta. and carried Rhubrum lilies. bridesmaids were: Miss Elizabethe, Johnson, of Edgefield, S. Miss Mary Margaret Mull, of Shelby; Miss Julia Hunt, of Lattimore; and Mrs. S.

B. Hagler, of Raleigh. They wore gowns of pink and wild rose taffeta and carried bouquets of garden flowers. The best man was Joseph Hagler, brother of the bride. The ushers were Woodrow Miles of Black Mountaln; Paul Hagler of Union, S.

Gregory is a graduate of Mars Hill college, and is at present a senior in chemical engineering at North Carolina State college, He has been an outstanding figure in athletics at both colleges. BUNN RALEIGH, Sept. 9. (Special) -The announcement that the state-wide club institute of the North Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs will be held in September instead of June has aroused renewed interest in this phase of the work. This interest added to the stimulus of a new administration, under the presidency of Mrs. John D.

Robinson of Wallace 1s giving the 1939-1940 club year an early and auspicious beginning. The sessions of the institute will be held in the Carolina Hotel, Raleigh, September 27. in connection with the council, which meets the following day. Mrs. Robinson says she thinks every club president will be there, and that many clubs send other representatives.

Carroll of Chapel Hill, who by virtue of her office as first vice-president is chairman of institutes in the federation, has outlined a program which covers the activity of the departments and divisions of the organization. Experts, chosen for their training and experience in these fields of knowledge have been invited to speak for each. The Institute will open at 2 o'clock with Carroll in charge. The keynote will be sounded by Miss Louise Alexander, former clerk of the city of Greensboro, who will present "The Clubwoman Citizen' in the opening message, which will feature activities of the citizenship department. Mrs.

J. Talbot Johnson of Aberdeen is chairman of the department and will lead the discussion afterwards and present her division workers. "North Carolina's Public Welfare Problem No. to be the theme of that department's study, presented by Dr. Ezzell of the state board of charities.

How best to aid in solving this problem will be the subjest of the conference hour led by Mrs. Charles L. Haywood of Durham, department chairman. Her six division chairmen wil be present to assist in formulating the plan of activity. The American Home department's hour is to be used as a symposium on plans, with the chairman Mrs.

Graham To Speak Dr. Frank Graham of the University of North Carolina will close the afternoon session, speaking for the education department on "Quo Vadis in Education" Mrs. D. F. (Special)- The Rev. and Mrs. C. Ammons, of Murphy, have announced the riage oftheir daughter, Miss Elizabeth Beryl Ammons, to Lovingood of Murphy and Atlanta, Ga. The wedding was solemnized on in Marietta, with Dr.

White April a 29 at the Baptist pastorium officiating. The bride 1s the only daughter of the Rev. J. C. Ammons, the First Baptist church of Murphy, and Mrs.

Ammons. he is an honor graduate of the Leaksville high school, Leaksville, N. C. This summer she completed her college work at Mercer university, Macon, where she received her A. B.

degree. Mr. Lovingood is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.

D. Lovingood, of Murphy. After receiving his early cation in the city schools of phy, he attended Emory university, Atlanta, where he received his A. B. degree.

Mr. Lovingood is now in his third year in the AtlantaSouthern Dental college. He 1s A member of the Theta Kappa Psi fraternity. After September 10, Mr. and Mrs.
