McAfee, 80, of 3 Narrows Court, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at his home. He was a native of Rye, N.Y. and graduated from Lehigh University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. During the war he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S.

Air Force. Most of his business career he was a Vice President of Teledyne Packaging in Chester, Pa. He retired in 1985 and moved to Salem, and was a member of Keowee Key Golf Club. He a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson, Volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Oconee CountySalem for seven years, and ER Volunteer in Oconee Memorial Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth R.

(Betty) McAfee; and two children from a previous marriage, James R. McAfee of Warren, and Sally A. McAfee of Woodstock, N.Y. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at 11 a.m.

at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James Richardson officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672 or to Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, 399 College Clemson, SC 29631. Arrangements by Seneca Mortuary. Melva Inez Medlock Pendleton Melva Inez Gossett Medlock, 89, died Sunday, Dec.

19, 1999, at Lila Doye Nursing Care, Seneca. Survivors: son, John D. Medlock Jr. of Pendleton, and Jesse C. Medlock of North Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Lu-zanne M.

Griffith of Seneca; a brother, John M. Gossett; a sister, Lillie G. Campbell; one half sister; one stepsister; 14 grandchildren; and 23 greatgrandchildren, Services were held Tuesday at Pendleton United Methodist Church. Burial: Church cemetery. Omit flowers.

He was a graduate of Gordon Bell High School, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the University of Manitoba where he received his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree in 1944, and received his MBA from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1966. He was a veteran of World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Engineers.

He was very active in the Boy Scouts of Canada, where he served as Assistant Department Camp Chief and Scout Master of Troop 69, London, Canada. He was assistant troop leader of Old 96 Council of Girl Scouts in Clemson. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, a Peace Corps Volunteer in Papua, New Guinea, and a volunteer with the Oncology Unit at Anderson Memorial Hospital. He was a member of University Lutheran Church where he was a member of the church council and the choir. Surviving are his wife, Gale White Knowland of the home; sons, Lee Knowland of Quartz Hill Peter Knowland of Fletcher, N.C., and Poll Knowland of Pickens; daughters, Frances Porcher of Mount Pleasant, and Susan Harper of Anderson; a brother, Raymond Sellen Knowland of Rockford, and a sister, Helen Gladys Feather of Sutton, Ontario, Canada.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at University Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University Lutheran Church Organ Fund, P.O. Box 1337, Clemson, SC 29633. Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
