Louis Park resident, passed away in peace and comfort at his home in Ft. Myers, Florida, Friday, February 25, 2000. He and his loving wife Lynne have spent the past ten years enjoying the Florida climate and golf at the Vines Country Club. Gene was born in 1923; graduated from St. Louis Park High School and attended the University of Minnesota until drafted into the army to serve in WWII.

He achieved the rank of captain, serving as a wave commander in the Philippines. Gene returned to St. Louis Park after the war and entered the Life Insurance business with his former high school principal, Al Martinson. He subsequently bought out Al and moved into property casualty insurance in the late 1950's. Gene continued with the Schadow Agency until his retirement in 1980.

Gene's community service included serving on the St. head of Police Civil SerLouis Park, City Council, vice Commission and president of St. Louis Park Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. One of Gene's most fulfilling time periods was serving as scoutmaster for 5 years for Boy Scout Troop 232. During this time his troop produced 10 Eagle Scouts, that being the highest rank a scout could achieve.

He also gained approval to run summer camp at his Lake Place just north of Garrison, Minnesota. This camp successfully operated serving several hundred boy scouts over the years. The place that Gene loved the most was his Lake Home on Big Pine Lake, Minnesota. His family spent summers there as his four sons grew to adulthood. While Gene's first love in sports was golf, he was also an accomplished horseman, hunter and fisherman and in fact he spent several years operating a sport fishing business in Florida.

Gene is survived by his loving wife Lynne; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Patti, Mark and Cookie, Craig and Lisa, Chris and Sue; also survived by grandchildren, Bob, Heidi, Matt, Michele, Samantha, Alison, Brian and Emily. There will be a service Monday in Ft. Myers, Florida for his friends and a private family service at his Lake Home in the spring. Donations pref. to Hope Hospice, 1-800-835-1673 Sexton John a Dallas financial and real estate executive, died unexpectedly after a short illness on February 19, 2000 at Baylor Hospital, Dallas Texas.

Memorial Services were at Christ the King Catholic Church, Dallas, Texas. Born in Minneapolis, MN, Mr. Sexton earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, graduating Cum Laude in 1954. For the next 4 years Mr. Sexton served his country in the United States Air Force, as jet fighter pilot instructor where he rose to the rank of Captain.

Following his service in the military, Mr. Sexton enrolled at Harvard University to earn his Master's of Business Administration. When he graduated in 1959, he joined the Dallas real estate firm of Genell, Inc. In 1960, Lomas Financial Corp. acquired Genell.

Mr. Sexton continued as an employee of Lomas for 32 yrs, serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In addition, Mr. Sexton served on the Board of Directors of Lomas and several affiliated financial companies. After his retirement from Lomas Mr.

Sexton became a consultant to many Dallas area firms, and also served on the boards of Mesbic, Inc. and Americana, Inc. In addition to his wife, Nancy, Mr. Sexton is survived by his son, John wife, Debra of Houston; daughter, Erin husband, John Webb of Dallas; 2 grandchildren Whitney and John B. Webb, mother-in-law, Ms.

Jimmy Rardin of Dallas; sisters, Peggy McCaddon of Dallas, and Kathleen Seton and brother, Bill Sexton both of Minneapolis. Concerned about funeral expenses? We are! Emily Dickinson Obituaries Robert Stabler, a busy volunteer, dies at age 76 By Lucy Y. Her Star Tribune Staff Writer For years, Robert J. Stabler volunteered at the Fairview Riverside Medical Center sports medicine lounge, giving information and talking to patients and their families. And as a fund-raiser for the Center for Victims of Torture, he was a host of the Healing Garden tours given in July.

Stabler, a retired rail service manager for General Mills who later was chairman of its Retirement Plus volunteer organization, died Wednesday of cancer at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. He was 76. He started working for General Mills in the 1940s in Toledo, Ohio, in the traffic ex division. During World War II he served in Europe, and when he returned, went back to work at General Mills.

He later transferred to Illinois, where he was a traffic manager. He moved to New Hope in 1965 and was a traffic manager. Lowell Edgren of New Hope said he and Stabler carpooled to work for about 30 years. They also worked on many volunteer projects through the retirement organization. "Bob was a good neighbor, as well as good friend," he said. After retirement, Stabler served two terms as chairman of the retirement organization and was a judge for the 1997 Acts of Kindness: Governor's Volunteer Award. And he was a lead fund-raiser for the General Mills United Way campaigns.

"He always through with the highest amount of money," said his wife. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Brenda Johnson of Golden Valley and Karyn Thompson of St. Paul, and three grandchildren. Services To Duane Fisher, 68; worked to help city neighborhoods By Lucy Y. Her Star Tribune Staff Writer For about three decades, Duane Fisher worked hard to improve Minneapolis neighborhoods. He dealt with contractors, bid on housing projects, marketed homes and worked to get families financed and into them. "He handled the total experience," said Earl Pettiford, manager of the Minneapolis Community Development Agency. "He was a very, very knowledgeable person." Fisher, who retired last year as the executive vice president of the Greater Minneapolis Metropolitan Housing Corp.

He was a big part of the Lyn Park project, a development built on cul-de-sacs in the 1970s and '80s in the Near North Side Fisher is survived by his wife, Chris tine, step-son Matthew; a brother, Donor van of Roseville; and half-sisters Karla: Theilen of Park Rapids, and Nana cy Draftkorn of Fontana, Wis.
