Remember, that we are for Temperance in all things. Improvements.

Improvements for IS'39 have begun in various portions of our city. Among them we notice a fine residence erectecyby Strayor and Saylor, on East Scioto street, which when completed will add greatly to the appearance of that portion of the city. This flrm has purchased the property, formerly owned by Robert AVoods on which this new building is erected, and intend in a few days to commence another building on the same property. The old residence of Mr. Woods also situated on the same tract of land is to be remodeled and an avenue made between the two new houses, leading to it.

The dwelling which they have already almost completed, reflects great credit upon the builders. It is being finished in a very handsome manner. As soon as completed, these buildings, as we understand, will be offered for sale- The old Peter Bird property adjoining is also being remodeled, and now presents a much better appea ra nee th an formerly. Squire Pierce's house on East Church Street is rapidly approaching completion and will be a very comfortable residence. On West O'ourt Street the former residence of Robt.

Colwcll is being raised so as to place the floor above high watermark; and other improvements are also to be made on the same property in the way of additions. South Main Street, and there's the sticking point, lias been (going to be) paved for a year or two, but the Council now say that it will be done this Spring as soon as the weather will permit, which if for our benefit only, we hope, will beat no distant day. The Storerooms, nearly opposite the Weaver House on Miami, Street, which were recently purchased by Frank Houston are being greatly improved iu appearance, by the neat show windows, which are being put in. The lower rooms hove already been rented by the of the "Home Washing Machine O'oni puny," who will act as general ag't, for the Home Washing Machines and Wring ers, in Champaign, and probably, Logan and O'lark Counties. The Llrt and Best.

The indications now are that the Winter is spent aud that Spiring is at hand. The proprietor (Decatur Talbott,) of the old reliable Hat and Cap Store, under the Weaver House," has taken this view of the matter, and accordingly made provision for the early Spring trade. Everything iu the line mentioned, that the most fastidious or economical could desire or expect, is to be found in the establishment. The selection of men and boys lints and caps, to be found there, is just the thing for this market. Let everybody go and sec.
