What excuse or reason can the Parish cenommittee give not to make a public the of their meeting of the 11th that the people, whom they claim to represent, know something of their dorags. Are these people ashamed of their action, and fear public criticisms? Think, Democrats of St. Martin, your representatives hold- a iig meetings and not informing yen of their tricky doings. Can they give any reason not to publish the minutes of their deliber- ahions unless they be unjust, undemocratic and tricky? Gentlemen, if your organ is unwilling to eeke lpublic your work, the will, send your proceedipgs and they will be published of charge. the committee explain to tQe public why they do not make the deliberations of their deeetings? MURDER.

Last Saturday evening, at about five o'clock, a cold blooded, unprovohd murder took place at Cade, in'which Charles Mathien, a ne- gro, was killed by another negro nanged Maime or Joseph Redom. I 'hbe evidence given at the Coro- ner's inquest, which was held Sunday evening is about this; Redom was on horse back and Mathien was on foot, andi were engaged in wlilt seemed to all witnesses a friendly conversation when Redow raised his voice and told to Mathieu 'you are a damned to which the murdered man replied 'no, I am not a to this Redom repeated 'you are a I damned liar, you are a rogue and I dare you to deny it' anti at this moment pulled his revolver, turned his head and fired the fatal hSa.h Mathieu at this time had ione hand in his pocket and held ja whip in the other, but never tried to use his whip, or made any to his murderer. Mathieu after being shot walked a short distance to the cabin of his mother, fell on the floor and lied about half an hour later. The Coroner's inquest showed 'that Mathieu was shot under the left eye, the bullet taking a downjward course, coming out in the neck, severing tile jugular vein. Redomn.

We are wondering whether the th Is editor of the Messenger will ever Pl 1, learn to respect the will of the De- 'e mocrats of this parish, most posi- bt tively spoken out on the first of ti -December last; whether he ima- gines that by his insinuating re- a marks he can influence or affect any body; whether he is favorable ir to and will support the State De- mocratic Ticket? whether he will a support Wm. B. Eastin for Clerk ci of Court, and David Rees for 0Sheriff, at the next election? whe- ther more faithful, efficient and it honest men can be founid in any section of the State, than the a c- above named geline. The ME88ENGER has respected the will of the Democrats expres- lused on December 1st, but the very parish committee elected on that day has violated the trust confided leto them, and trampled upon the will of the Democrats regarding d- the judiciary. Brother Greig, we seriously doubt the fealty to Democratic principles of your candidates.
