EARL WILSON SAYS: 1NTERBORO Shelley Jells In'Lolitct' SWARTHMORE NEW YORK-It's a remarkable world--now here is Shelley Winters just back from doing "Loiita" in London, and ready to go into "The Chapman Report" she avoids gossiping about and sex scandals she wants to talk politics and business. "We froze to death making 'LoJita'," shivered Shelley. "I know the Hollywood firms have frozen funds in England--but they also have frozen actors!" Sheelly who played Lotia's mother--predicted that the picture, humorously treated, would not be heavily censored and will be great. She's impressed personally with modern youth, which is different than the youth she knew in St. Louis, where she comes from.

"For example," she admitted, "there was a young man I was interested in--until I found he danced a different generation." (She says today's young people dance like "robots). I gather that the young man she liked dances "mashed potatoes," consisting of a movement of the food indicating mashing potatoes, or "The Twist." Shelly in any case is such a JFK fan that she almost left "Lolita'V because she couldn't get back for the Inaugural. At a party given by Mrs. Lynn Loesser, she mentioned sitting beside JFK at at a Garment District rally. JFK had been late getting to the platform.

"What's been all the delay?" she inquired. Melvyn Douglas was near her. "Being a Method actress," he answered, "you wouldn't understand about making an entrance." Who enjoyed the joke most? JFK. Shelley's already campaigning for his reelection in 1964. Is Walter Winchell Jr.

(AP) Sera fino J. Cattivera thinks back to his 21 years as a coal miner and observes, "the mines never were 1 like this." Cattivera, like many of his fellow anthracite miners, had to look elsewhere for work when the mine closed for good here two years ago. His days of blasting stubborn coal loose from its underground chambers at an end, he decided to help his wife in her beauty shop.

In his spare time he went to school for a hair styling course. Now an accredited beautician, Cattivera works alongside of his wife in a husband-wife hair styling team. "I should have done this years ago," says the former coal rock! foreman. I can't think of a job I'd rather do." He admits the gang from the old third mine level kid him a bit about this change from chopping coal to cutting hair; "but remember they're broke and I'm making a good living." Mrs. Cattivera is thrilled with the whole thing.

"It's wonderful," she says, "having him working in the same shop with me. He's Home. He's out of the mines. He's safe and happy."
