Nothing tould bu done to favo tho old mill and It wits soon reduced to ttihes. The real loss Is a doubtful question. This mill wns originally owned by Peck Averill, and as completed and first put in operation July 18, 1850, with C.

Lucas its thu first miller. On March 2. 1851, Charles Slfeson took charge as miller and continued until 1807 about 10 jours. The mill was tola to Juinea P. Averill lu 1M17, and later bold to Mies Ellen Adams.

For many years Perry Thomas was the miller. J. V. Ross at ono timo controlled tho mill, putting in now hulling cloths and otherwise tilting it up, but tho new roller process of milking Hour knocked out the old style and the business was not sufficient to niulto thu mill a enterprise In 18!) It was the only mill at tho time within a radius of 30 miles, and tho hoy and horfco wus tho only w.y in which it "grist" could be talceu to mill over those horrible roads.
