Like you'll want to decide what to sell and how much to charge for each item and then you'll need price tags so other people will know what you're charging. And you'll have to be able to make change for all your customers so that means you should have lots of one dollar bills and an assortment of coins.

Then you'll want to advertise your sale to attract that crowd. You can do it with a sign or signs in your neighborhood but you'll want a bigger crowd than that so you'll run an ad in Classified which tells the time and place of your sale to a host of potential buyers. One more thing get up early the day of your sale! When people read about a Garage Sale in Classified, they shop early. Have fun with your little business adventure! (Written under the auspices of Lieutenant Governor Dave O'Neal) Question. What responsibility does the Department of Children and Family Services have to the senior citizen 65 years and over in Illinois? Answer.

Twounitsof this department (Comnunity Services for the Visually Handicapped and the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute) have responsibility for providing services to substantial numbers of visually impaired senior citizens. In addition to the services to the elderly blind, DCFS also places greater emphasis on the use of the immediate and extended family to strengthen and support family life for it neglected and dependent wards. The department has found foster grandparents to be a valuable resource. Departmental staff have used them to provide such services as foster and temporary care, transportation and babysitting. Question.

What services does the Department of Children and Family Services provide to the senior citizens? Answer. As indicated above, the majority of the department's direct services to senior citizens are provided by Community Services for the Visually Handicapped and the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute. Both of these units serve the full age range of visually-handicapped adults, but a significant percentage of the clients served by each unit are 65 years or older. Conservative estimates indicate at least 50 percent of the approximately 25,000 blind individuals in Illinois are 55 years of age or older. Community Services for the visually handicapped provide rehabilitation services to visually impaired individuals in their own homes.

Approximately one-half of the professional staff members of this unit are headquartered in Chicago and the remainder are located in various area offices throughout the state. The major types of services or training provided are counseling, skills of daily living, braille and other communications skills, orientation and mobility, homemaking, and crafts. Community Services refers clients who desire more intensified training programs to the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute. Clients desiring vocational rehabilitation services are referred to the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Question.

How does the Department of Children and Family Services relate to other agencies providing services to the aging? Answer. The department assists its elderly clients whenever it is requested lo obtain services from other agencies. A number of the other agencies refer elderly clients to Community Services for the Visually Handicapped and the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute for the specialized services these two programs provide. Question. Does the Department of Children and Family Services have a person, or persons, directly responsible for services or problems relating to the elderly? Answer.

No one person in DCFS has services to the elderly as his or her sole responsibility. I. 4, KM WOODSTOCK DAILY f.O SENTINEL CLASSIFIED ADS 815-338-1300 three sons; a brother and four sisters, including Mrs. Herman (Martha) Rossdeutcher, Volo, and Mrs. Sylvester (Christina) Leffelman, Grayslake..
