"Not at all," Geffen said in a phone interview.

"I expected it to be bigger than (Francis Ford Coppola's) 'Dracuta' was, and that was $30 million." Why bigger than "It's a better movie; it's got a better cast," Geffen said. He said he never had worried much about the film's reception, even during Rice's very public criticism of Cruise's casting as Lestat (which she withdrew, with equal fanfare, after seeing the film). "I never cared about the controversy. I said, if the movie is good, there'll be a great audience for it if it wasn't good, it wouldn't be a hit." Geffen said that while critics were more or less split about the film's merits, exit polls were outstanding. "Women love the movie, young males under 25 love the movie, and they showed up in droves to see it," he said.
