Jamie Rose Actress now goes with the flow of life rgg: -i' 1 1 mie's parents decided the time had come for Jamie and her brother to have a "normal" environment and relocated to Fresno, where her father turned building contractor. "I was not happy about it," she admits. The difficulty, as Jamie sees it now, was, "Culture shock. Fresno is kind of a rural place, and we had moved from an integrated area to a predominantly white, upper-middle class neighborhood. I'd been used to working, too." Her flame-colored locks were "always noticed and frankly, people made fun of me a lot," she recalls.

"I'm the 'white skin' kind of redhead, not the tan kind, and I thought that was really ugly. My skin tone does not change with the seasons. I get a few more freckles, that's all." While she was experiencing "culture shock," she says, her folks were adjusting beautifully to their lives as a contractor and as a real estate agent. "They're great adjusters, they're what people call survivors. They go with the tide of life." Her father has now resumed his performing career, and he and Jamie swap audition stories.

After Fresno city and state colleges and the University of California at Santa Cruz, she tried Cal. State Northridge, where she finally began taking acting classes. "And I couldn't get cast in their plays. So I figured, 'If I'm going to be rejected, I might as well be rejected in the real world. "And the rest is history." After roles in ABC's critically lauded "The Wave" and ABC's "Twirl" movie, Jamie was signed for "Falcon Crest." Her father had a T-shirt made: "I am Victoria Gioberti's real father." Last year, she scored with a role in John Ritter's "In Love With an Older Woman." She recently learned that after the first few episodes of "Falcon Crest" this fall, the show would be going without her.

But "going with the tide of life," she seems to be By STACY SMITH Gonnttt New Service HOLLYWOOD "I'm the kind of person who likes to be up front," says Jamie Rose. After talking to the lively, 23-year-old "Falcon Crest" actress, you can't help but believe her. A showbiz brat she spent much of her early years watching her ex-Rocket te mother and singer-actor-dancer father performing on local and straw-hat circuit stages she is very much aware of the problems of the business, and anxious to make sure she doesn't add to them. "Sometimes I'm too blunt and talk before I think," she says. "I'm trying to train myself to be more sensitive to other people's needs." Red-haired, green-eyed Jamie became a professional actress at 6, with a string of commercials and guest spots on such shows as "Green Acres" and "Family Affair." "Because of my parents, it didn't seem that unusual a thing to do.

The difficult thing was the judging." Judging? "Yes," she says. "Whenever anybody asks me about kids working in show business, I tell them to be very careful and watch the child, because children don't understand about auditions. They don't realize that 'Joe got the part because he has blond hair and they needed a All the kid understands is that he didn't get it he wasn't good enough. "It's a dangerous thing in that way. I think that's more dangerous than the fame, being judged and getting rejected.

Or accepted because then the child starts to think he's better than the other kids. "That's what became difficult for me when I turned 13 or so," she adds. "I was at that vulnerable age between girl and woman, and I just didn't want to face being judged anymore." It was then that she put a halt to her junior career and when she was moved out of Los Angeles. She reports that she received and turned down a series offer (considering it too similar to her "Crest" role), and that other offers are pending. "It's sad to think of leaving the show. The people on 'Falcon Crest' have become like a family. It's like leaving camp and you cry." Having just completed her last "Falcon" episodes, she's beginning to work in "Game of Secrets," a play by her screenwriter "Spring boyfriend, Daniel Faraldo.
