Patrick Barnes, a certified rehabilitation counselor from Geneva, has been named director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Sherman Hospital. A native of central Illinois, Barnes received a degree in education at Northern Illinois University at DeKalb, and served as a vocational specialist and manager of a chronic pain program at MarianJoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton prior to his appointment at Sherman Hospital. Barnes' duties at Sherman in- elude management of staffing for physical medicine and rehabilitation for the hospital, tiie West Court rehabilitation program, and the SCORE program for occupational rehabilitation. "We always try to arrange a summer outing, and it just wasn't looking feasible until we received this gift from the Fox Ridge Women's Club," said Program Coordinator Lorraine Kopczynski. The funds were raised from the club's yearly garage sale traditionally held on the third weekend in May. This year, 109 "garages" participated throughout Fox Ridge and Winding Creek subdivisions. "The trip to Magic Waters in Rockford in August will be the highlight of the summer for many individuals," said Kopczynski.

Other recipients were the McHenry Area Youth Commission and the Home of the Sparrow. The Open Herbert H. Freund House party will be hosted by his children: Barbara (George) Gilpin, Eugene (Frances) Freund, Paul (Joan) Freund and Joan (Robert P. Freund. Herbert Freund was born July 11, 1901 in Johnsburg and has lived in the McHenry area all his life. He retired from the family construction business (S.

H. Freund Son) in 1966 and. turned the business over to his sons and son-in-law. three grandsons are now also working for the company making it a fourth generation family business.
