AP) The Sycamore Future Farmers of America chapter has been named best In the state as the Illinois FFA convention opened at the University of Illinois here. The chapter received the Illinois Bankers' Award Tuesday for having the best all-around chapter program. Placing second was the Warren High School chapter fromJrfonmouth and in third place was the Paxton chapter.

The three were selected from 14 gold-emblem chapters. The other 11 chapters, which received special certificates, include Ashland, Galesburg, Georgetown, Jacksonville, Mount Carroll, Northwestern of Palmyra, Southwestern of Piasa, Salem, Sandwich, Northwestern of Sciota and Teutopolis. The Sycamore chapter was started in 1928 and boasts 128 members in a school of 900 students. The chapter rents 180 acres, harvesting corn and soybeans. It also maintains a flock of 50 registered, sheep in the chapter-owned barn and other facilities at the high school.

The chapter owns more than $26,000 in equipment, and operated on a budget of $30,600 last year.
