Dr. Allen N.

Koplin, acting health director, said the shots would be available to persons over age 60 or those who have chronic diseases. "These people are most likely to suffer serious complications from influenza," he said. The swine flu program was suspended in December after it became apparent it was associated with instances of an ailment known as GuillainBarre syndrome. But an outbreak of Victoria flu in Florida casued the federal government to lift its moratorium on use of the swine flu vaccine. The vaccine protects against both Victoria and 'swine flu, and is the only available caccine to protect against Victoria flu, authorities said.

Convicted man gets 'new life' CHICAGO (AP) Earl Reisel has started picking up pieces of his life as a free man after spending seven months in jail insisting he was innocent of theft. The charges were dropped Tuesday after prosecutors said they discovered that the key witness, Miss Smith, had lied on the stand. Miss Smith wept softly as, prosecutors told the judge, "We can no longer vouch for the truthfulness of our witness." Reisel, a short order cook, said, "Now I've got to start picking up the pieces of my life.
