PROJECT DEMONSTRATION Board to Take Action in Chariton River Basin in Iowa. AMES- -Immediate action will be taken by the Iowa state planning board to inaugurate a proposed demonstration project, involving the co-ordination of all state and federal agencies working toward the improvement of agriculture and the rehabilitation of human resources, now definitely determined for the Chariton river drainage basin in Iowa, it was stated by Dean H. Kildee, chairman of the planning board. The board has definitely comresult of petitions to mitted itself to the proteclose a 5,000 names of residents, chiefly farm persons, living within the six counties touched by the Chariton river in Iowa. The petitioners requested the planning board to undertake the demonstration in that area, including portions of the counties of Appanoose, Wayne, Decatur, Clarke, Lucas and Monroe.

"So far as we know, this is the first time such a co-ordinated effort has been undertaken in the United States," Chairman Kildee stated. "Its first result will be unifying and co-ordinating the many established state and federal programs within a particular area where results can be checked and actual benefits recorded. "The ultimate result, we hope, will be a permanent rehabilitation of an area which is admittedly in need of help, where erosion has seriously impaired the land and with. it the agricultural industry, and where, human need also nas become because of the loss of soil and its productivity." Car Stolen by Convict. IOWA FALLS--A car belonging to Russell Brown was stolen in Iowa Falls cn March 28. Late Wednesday morning, Chief of Police Joe Sallee received a long distance telephone call from police at Princeton, Ill.
