Nielsen Media 10 most-watched shows for the week ending on Independence Day featured eight reruns, a NASCAR race and one new show: Simple Life Even among the 18-to-49- year-old viewers that advertisers covet and most networks cater to, and were the two top-rated shows.

One original show that did do well, relatively, was cover- age of the Fourth of July fire- works, which beat all original scripted programs. People even seem to prefer re- peating reality. A rerun of on NBC drew more view- ers than some of the originals, Comic or Love or CBS won last week, averaging 8million viewers. NBC had 6.5 million, Fox 4.9 million, ABC 4.7 million, UPN 2.3 million and the WB 1.9 million.
