Tribune Obituaries Dr. Karl R. Lundeberg, 91, dies; was city health officer Dr. Karl R. Lundeberg, 91, Minneapolis health commissioner from 11954 to 1964, died of complications from a stroke Wednesday at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

David Chanen Staff Writer He- was a proponent of improved public sanitation and air pollution laws, tougher nursing homes standards and better enforcement of housing codes. He created a controversy when he tried to make public the names of seven bars that were described as "venereal disease trouble spots" because they were known to be frequented by prostitutes. In 1955 he set up the city's polio vaccine program and helped develop "polio cocktail," a sweet-tasting syrup containing the vaccine for children who wouldn't take an inoculation. He also was instrumental in controlling a citywide Asian flu epidemic in 1957. In 1958 he established a $3 million Public Health Center in downtown Minneapolis.

He rose to chairman and chief executive officer of the furniture and home improvement chain in 1969 and res tired in 1982. Myron Brinig, 94, a novelist who wrote about the development of Montana, died Monday. Funeral Directors 13 passed away May 10, 1991. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was active in the allied invasion at Normandy. He spent most of his professional life as an accountant, including a number of years in the Finance Dept at Long Beach State College. He was also a pipefitter at area refineries. Gordon will be remembered for his dedicated anti-crime volunteer work and his contribution to the restoration of a WW Merchant Marine vessel. Funeral services were held in Long Beach, CA.
