Urban said the only additional security measure taken this week was a press conference to remind the public about security issues at the stadium. Police reported four arrests on Sunday. Urban said they also confiscated a number of small backpacks that fans recently received as a giveaway. "Just because they received them at the stadium does not mean they can bring them back," he said.

Green Bay police Lt. Bradley Florence said later Sunday that pat-downs are still a policy at the stadium. "Security may be getting better at spotting people and knowing what types of searches to conduct. Fans are still being checked, but some of them might not notice it," Florence said. Dan Bruders and Patty Smith of Milwaukee said the search at the gate was fairly mild compared to other stadiums they've been to.

Bruders said that unless a fan has a weapon, "I personally am not worried about some guy running onto the field. Brett is dealing with 300-pound guys every day, so he can handle it. As a fan, I'm more worried about security in the stands and around the stadium, which seems fine here." Barry Burgrabe, a Steelers fan from the St. Louis area, said he experienced a "weak pat-down" at the gate. "I was at Cincinnati before, and their pat-down was much more stringent.

The fans and the atmosphere are so friendly here, it doesn't seem to be a big issue," Burgrabe said. Tony Ortiz, a Packers fan from Los Angeles, said he's a sheriff's deputy and he knows how difficult checking large crowds can be. He also said the pat-down at Lambeau was mild compared to other stadiums he's been to. "It's almost impossible to stop someone from getting onto the field, that much I understand, unless you have some kind of wall or net around the entire thing. I wouldn't want that," Ortiz said.

Val Mack and her 9-year-old son Aaron Mack, Packers fans from Madison, said they weren't patted down at all, but they did have to open their coats and bags. "I'm not sure I want to be patted down, but I do want to be safe," Mack said. ml" 11 rjvm. mr -a km SearchHalf-mile area around yard closed and taken to the state Crime Lab in Madison, where evidence technicians were examining it Sunday Avery was at a family cabin near Crivitz for the weekend. He was released after he was exonerated by DNA evidence. Their searches were being assisted by dive teams from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department, which was checking three ponds near the salvage yard, and from three K-9 units with officers and dogs. The Wisconsin State Patrol had a half-mile area around the salvage yard closed to traffic Sunday. Family and friends were told to concentrate their searches away from the salvage yard, north of Wisconsin 147 and east of Interstate 43.

Halbach, a free-lance photographer who was taking photos for an automotive magazine, had three appointments last Monday in Manitowoc County and apparently was last seen after taking a photo of a vehicle Avery has for sale, authorities said. Pagel said her vehicle was found in the salvage yard about 10 a.m. Saturday by friends and family of Halbach who were searching the area.
