"He's always throwing strikes. In games where he hasn't had good stuff, he'd still pitch a good game because all of -his pitches go down and he doesn't let a walk and that kind of stuff beat him." Robinson allowed an unearned run in the first inning, but wasn't hurt otherwise.

The victory allowed Greenville (37-31) to pull within three games of the Sun Rays (39-27) in the East Division standings. The Braves can pick up an additional two home games for the first round of the league playoffs if they can win the second-half title. Otherwise, Greenville plays host to the first two games of the best-of-five series. Greenville's Pedro Borbon (0-1, 2.20) and Orlando's Mike Tromb-ley (12-7, 2.66) are the scheduled pitchers for game two of the series at 7: 15 p.m. Thursday.

We only have five plays. 't We tried to put in a sixth play but -1 couldn't remember it." Igwebuike auditions Former Clemson placekicker Donald Igwebuike worked out briefly Wednesday morning. The Falcons have shown an interest in him if rookie Brad Daluiso doesn't work out.

Atlanta obtained Daluiso from Green Bay on Monday. Igwebuike was cut by the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. He has served stints with both the Vikings and Tampa Bay. He missed much of last season after being indicted in Tampa, for allegedly trafficking heroin. He was later acquitted.

Daluiso was impressive during his first workout with the team. His first attempt with the team lined up in field goal formation came from 53-yards out and he was aiming at a set of goalposts about half the normal width. It went right through the middle. As soon as the field goal went though, the entire team, along with Herock jumped in the air and cheered. He went on to make three of four attempts.

After the performance Glan-ville looked at Epps, who was injured during the overtime period of Friday's preseason loss to Dallas, just seconds after former Falcon kicker Rich Karlis missed an easy field goal atempt in regulation that would have given Atlanta the victory. "If we had had him Friday, you never would have gotten hurt," he said. Rison returns Wide receiver Andre Rison, who injured his left ankle when his shoe ripped apart prior to Tuesday's practice, was back on Wednesday. He went through the entire practice, including the windsprints, at full speed. "It feels a lot better than it did yesterday," Rison said.

"I'll definitely be ready to play on Sunday." Another Falcon suffering with a sprained ankle, starting nose tackle Tory Epps, did not participate in contract drills, but sprinted following practice. Deion Sanders has been getting extensive work at wide receiver this week. He caught several long passes Wednesday. He is expected to see action when Atlanta faces Kansas City in the season opener Sunday. WHEN YOU BUY FOUR MICHEUN TIRES.

"We need some younger players to come through, and we'll probably have to do some things scheme-wise to put our players in a better position to block." The rebuilt line forms around senior center Jay Killen, who transferred in from Appalachian State and established himself as the team's most dependable blocker last year. The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder from York has experience, savvy and agility.

He will play alongside right guard Antoine Rivens, a 6-2, 270-pounder who started in 10 games last fall. As he came away from Tuesday's scrimmage, Woods said he felt comfortable with naming a third starter up front: Greenwood's Ernest Dye, a junior college transfer who carries 330 pounds on his 6-6 frame. After that, the picture gets cloudy, much like it was during the '90 season. "Going in (to Tuesday's scrimmage), I felt like Ernest has earned a starting position. That gives us three," said head coach Sparky Woods.

"We're trying to find us five, and a couple more. "I think those three are pretty solid. I think we can look at (seniors) Rich Sweet and Curtis Godwin as starters; I just don't know where they should fit, and we can't start six or seven." Sweet, dividing his time between guard and tackle, started in five games last year. Senior Dany Branch, now listed as a backup to Dye, started in one game. In Tuesday's scrimmage, Sweet was the starter at right tackle, and Godwin was backing up Rivens at right guard.

On the left side, redshirt freshman Vincent Dinkins appears to be the No. 1 guard. "Dinkins has had a good camp. He's gotten a lot of work in there, and I'd say he has a really good chance of starting," said Woods. Junior Kenny Ferrell, who entered the fall drills as the starter there, is now backing up Killen at center.

Two sophomores, Mike Whitman and Mathew Campbell, are running 1-2 at the tight end position a position that became unexpectedly vacant when 1990 starter Charles Steward did not return to school for his senior season. Dye is being counted upon to man the post at left tackle, giving Fuller protection against blind-side tackles. Following Tuesday's session, Woods indicated that the other three starting spots on the line would be settled soon. "We'd like to get settled on a unit. I wish that it had been done Jiefore now," said Woods.

"(Line) Coach (Carroll) McCray had some people he wanted to see in certain positions. He's wanting very badly to get a unit, so can use remaining practice time to work as a unit." USC will practice Thursday and Friday before taking the weekend off. The Gamecocks open the season against Duke Sept. 7. 18-9450 iar.
