He married Hazel Steenport of Chilton, in 1930 and they resided in Chilton until 1943, at which time he moved his family to Janesville, so two of his children born blind, could attend the State School for the Visually Handicapped and live at home. He was employed in Maintenance for the Janesville School District until his retirement. Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and dedicated worker. He had been a member of First Congregational Church, UCC, in Janesville, for many years.

He is survived by his children, Faye (Ted) Bidwell, Janesville; Tom Schmidlkofer, Milwaukee Karen Wolter, Green Bay, his grandchildren, Jane Bidwell, Hayward, Ann (Jim) Hyzer, Janesville; Charles (Mona) Wolter, Richard Wolter and Alan (Michelle) Wolter, all of Green Bay; his brother, John Schmidlkofer, Chilton, and by his great-grandchildren, Wyatt James Hyzer and Corey, Jacob and Kaleb Wolter. Besides his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Hazel; a grandson, Peter Wolter; two great-grandchildren Abby and Jordan Wolter; a son-in-law, Donald Wolter; and by two brothers, Nicholas and Frank Schmidlkofer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, UCC, 54 S.

Schmidlkofer, Walter H. Walter H. Schmidlkofer, 93, a longtime Janesville, Wis. resident, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 9, 2002, at Manor Care East, Green Bay, after residing since May 1998, at Woodside Manor, also in Green Bay.

He was born Feb. 17, 1909, in Chilton, the son of the late Nicholas and Magdalena Divers searching river for girl The Associated Press MILWAUKEE A police department dive team searched a river in a park Monday for a little girl who has been missing for about three months. The dive team searched the Milwaukee River near Estabrook Park for Alexis Patterson. The girl has been missing since May 3, police said. A caller left an anonymous tip at WTMJ-TV to search there.

That information was subsequently turned over to police. Patterson was reported missing after her stepfather, LaRon Bourgeois, walked her about a half-block from their home to Hi-Mount Community School. Elayne Dubin on Sept. 7, 1952. He was a pharmacist until his retirement.
