Children's Player coining to Sewickley World golfer Gary Player is being sponsored by the Child Health Association of Sewickley in a benefit golf exhibition and clinic at the Sewickley Heights Golf Club Tuesday, June 10 at 1 p.m. LPGA's glamour girl Laura Baugh will be featured also. All money raised from this event will be returned to the community through child-oriented agencies which have properly requested assistance. Determination to be the best golfer in the world has kept Gary Player consistently in the money. In 1974 he had 10 victories on five continents including his 100th career win in Australia (where he won the Australian Open for the 7th time), two major championships (the Masters and British Open), and a world-record round of 59 en route to the Brazilian Open Championship.

Bursting into public recognition in 1971 as the U.S. Women's Amateur Golf Champion at barely 16 years of age, Laura Baugh's blond hair and winsom smile have madejier LPGA's "glamour girl." She earned over fSO.OOO in just two years on tour. Laura had to wait until her 18th birthday to join the tour but debuted with a splash, tying for second in her first professional event. Most Beautiful Golfer of 1972,. unanimous Rookie of Year in'1973, she has become popular in Japan as well as the U.S.

Rounding out the card for the exhibition will be PGA stars Chuck Scally and Roy Vtidnich. Chuck Scally is well known in" the area as a teacher of the sport, con- i golf i i i speeches, and giving golf tips on radio and television. Scally won the Tri-State PGA Sectional Championship in 1969. 1971, the Tournament in 1968, 1969, and the McKay Trophy which is presented to the low average scorer of Tri-State PGA Tournmanets in 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1971. Recipient of the Dapper Dan Award in 1970, he has played in 12 National Opens and five National PGA Championships.

Roy Vucinich is in his second year as a professional at Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley, after serving there one year as assistant. Prior to that time, he was an assistant at St. Clair NH tennis courts for district use Residents of North Hills School District are permitted to use the tennis court facility at the senior high school on the following schedule: Mondays Unoagh Fridays--through Jwne 12, 5:30 to dark; June 12 through Jwij 24, noon until dark; July 25 to opening of school, 9 a.m.to dark. Saturdays--9 a.m to dark. Sundays--noon to 6 p.m.

The district requests that players use the honor system and use the courts for a one-hour period so that all will have equal opportunity to play on the four all-weather courts. Users of the courts must wear tennis shoes with a flat surface. During the last three years Roy has consistently finished in the money and is improving his tournament record. In 1974 he won the Allegheny County Open'and Ham- Am Team Championships. At North Park, the tournaments will include the public links tournament June 18 and 19; the County Open, June 23; annual men's golf tournament, July annual junior's golf tournament, July 16 and annual women's golf tournament, Aug. 19.

At South Park the annual women's golf tournament is scheduled July the junior tourney, July 22 and the men's, July 29. Each year the tournaments attract an estimated 1.000 golfers. The courses NH Softball League opening season The North Hills Softball League will begin its 16th season of competition this week with eight teams in the league. Jim McFarlane continues as president of the league; Bob Swinderman, treasurer, and John Mages, chairman of schedules. Teams and managers i Brant's Oldsmobile, Lou Arnold; Baldy Regan's, John Samosky; Bruno's, Ray Bruno; Buddie's, Rege Metzler; Fortune National, George Payne; Keg of Beer, John Mages; Spring Hill, Jack Eyerman, and Valley Dodge, Rich Golowicz.

There are three new teams joining the league this year-- Buddie's, Spring Hill, and Valley Dodge. Two of the returning teams have new sponsors- Fortune National was formerly Wexford and Regan's was formerly Sill's Tavern. The Baldy Regan team was league champion last year with Brant in second place. at both parks are becoming increasingly popular among area golfers and each year more and more of them take to the courity's fairways and greens. Last year, 167,449 golfers played the courses and paid fees.

George Kelly, parks director, said both parks have reported surprisingly good turn-outs at the golf courses thus far despite inclement weather. NH Women open golf year with breakfast The North Hills Women's Golf League kicked off the 1975 season with a breakfast meeting Tuesday morning at Sherwood Forest Restaurant. Eileen Lozito will be president of the league this year. Lorraine Winkelman is vice president; Hazel Johns, secretary; Marge Deasy, treasurer; Eleanor Fullmer, handicap chairman; Mary Lou Platts, events chairman; Gloria Doban, publicity chairman, and EllieSegleon, social chairman.
