Society: EnUrUlnn At Announcement' Party Miss Winifred McBeath entertained at a delightful dinner party Tuesday evening at her home, 21U Graeber street, honoring Miss Ruth Hawley, who is to be a bride of December 23. Covers were arranged for 10 for the three-course dinner at one long table, centered with tall red A red and gold color scheme was carried on In the individual tapers and in the red and gold bell place cards which carried the announcement of the approaching marriage of Miss Hawley and Howard Sokol of Sibley. Miss Margaret Quaife and Miss June Beverly, Gamma Phi Beta sorority girls assisted in serving. The later evening was spent in hemming tea towels for the hoii- oree The guests were Gamma Phi Beta sorority sisters, all fcelng pledges with Miss Hawley in 1931. They were Virginia Terrill of Boone, Virginia Brayer, Ruth Feroe.

Holds Meeting The December meeting of the A elch Parent-Teacher association held Tuesday evening in the school, a very interesting program visual education being given at this time. The program opened with two lovely piano duets by Mrs. Ona Searles Lantz and Mrs. E. A.

Benbrook. Miss Reba Carey gave an planation of visual education as" used in the schools and particularly in Welch school, displaying vari- o- types in her room. The exhibit was very worthwhile and much interest was shown. Harold L. Kooser of the visual instruction department at Iowa State college told of the plan of the national program 0:1 visual education program and presented a film on the eye.

A short business session was held after the program. Group Enjoys Theater Party A group of young women enjoyed a theater party Tuesday evening at the New Ames theater a section was reserved for them. Later bridge was played at the liome of Mrs. Dorothy Gangstead and refresments were served. Those participating -were Gladys A acDonald, Ardith MacDonalci.

Entertains Seebaccam Club The Seebaccam club met-at'the home of Doris Perkins, 212 Eleventh street, Monday evening. F. lodge went to Nevada Monday night where they put on the second degree work at the meeting of the Nevada order. Twenty- five were present from Ames. Scottish Society Meeting is Postponed The regular meeting of the Ladies Scottish society scheduled for Friday at the home of Mrs. George Campbell on the campus has been postponed.

CHAIRMAN Dr. Grace Beardsley of Baltimore, has been appointed chairman of the committee on International relations for the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's club by Mrs. Celine Bowman of Richmond, president. Dr. Beardsley will take the place of MJss Josephine Schain.

She is a member of the faculty of Goucher college in Baltimore, being assistant professor in the department of classics and history. For two years, Dr. Beardsley served as chairman of the special committee on international stu3y groups of the federation and attended meetings in Geneva in 1930 which resulted in the formation of the international She also attended the international board meeting in Paris. in 1932.

Recognizing the growing influence of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women's clvbs in Europe, the Polish government invited them to take part in the second annual International Exposition of Fine Arts held at the Institute Propa- gandy in Warsaw Oct. 1. Mme. Antonietta paoli Pogliani. international chairman of fine arts, traveled from Rome to attend and Miss Dorothy -Heneker, executive director was there for the opening.

League of Women Voters to Meet Mrs. R. J. De La Hunt will be in charge of the program on Brookings institution report as applies to the reorganization of government, at the meeting" of the League of Women Voters Thursday afternoon at 2:15 in room 224 of the Memorial Union. Both the immediate program and the eventual program recommended by the Brookings institution will be discussed.

At the request of Dr. Grace Hadley Beardsley of Goucher college, former chairman of public relations of the federation and Carol Willis Hyatt of Chicago, national publicity chairman, three distinguished members of the Museum of Modern Art of New York city, Alfred H. Barr, director, Edward M. Warburg and Philip Johnson, served as judges in the contest which closed recently and selected 14 posters to be displayed in a country-wide exhibit.

After showings in 12 states, including California, the posters will be returned to New York city for exhibition during the National Business Women's week March 17 to 23. Miss Ruth Shirley Brown, the winner, bent on making a success in the art field, has continued her work with great difficulty during the past five years. In spite of the fact that she has assisted her mother, a semi-invalid, in operating a "book nook," she has continued her art training. to Mr. arid Mrs.
