In response to invitations a jolly company gathered at the home of Fred and family at Garden Prairie. The first game of ball of tbe season in our burg took place last Saturday on tbe south side grounds between the Scrubs and Regulars. The Scrubs won the game by a score of 27 to 23. Tbe battery for the Regulars was Carr and Stoddard while Morehouse and Ocock were in the points for the Scrubs. The game was notable for heavy hitting and loose playing on both sides but with a little practice they will probably put up a better game.

Tbe feature of the game was the great base running of F. S. Carr, and H. Senift's star playing on third base. Lyman Sheldon of Marengo visited relatives here over Sunday.
