Thursday, July 4, 1940 Marengo Republican-Newt Papre 12 at one' long table, the centerpiece 1 rS mm: Are Married Saturday Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Neva McDonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. McDonald of Elgin, to Clarence Bean of Rockf ord, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Arthur Bean of this city, which took place at the home of the bride's parents on Saturday af ternoon at 4:00 o'clock with the Rev. A. E. McKenney, of the Marengo Baptist church, officiating.

The couple was attended by Miss Irene Werner of Elgin and Harvey Kuecker of Wheaton. The bride wore a floor length white embroidered taffeta dress, fashioned in princess style, with a shoulder length veil caught at her brow with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white carna tions, snapdragons and roses. The bridesmaid wore an Alice blue taffeta dress of floor length with a shoulder length veil also caught at the brow with orange blossoms. Miss Werner carried an arm bouquet of pink carnations, rnapdragons and Palms, ferns and garden flowers formed the background for the wedding ceremony.

Following the ceremony, a reception and a three-course wedding dinner was held at the home of the bride's parents. Miss June McDonald, Miss Gloria Hogrefe and Jack Brown served the dinner, at which the wedding cake was the main feature, to the members of the immediate family and close friends. Mr. and Mrs. Bean left for a wedding trip to jjaice ueneva where they will spend a week.

The bride's going-away outfit was a black net dress with white accessories. The bride was graduated from the Marengo Community High school in 1933 and is, employed by the National Watch, factory Co. in Elgin where she has worked for the past five years. The groom was graduated from the Marengo Community High school in 1933 and is employed in the Woodward Governor in Rock- ford. Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mrs.

A. E. McKenney and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bean of Marengo and Miss Mildred Martin of Wheaton.

Wed at Coral Saturday Before a background of garden flowers, roses and snapdragons, Star To Have Official Visit Haven Chapter O.E.S. is mak ing plans to entertain Mrs. Lulu E. Benson of Oak Park, worthy grand matron of the Order of the Eastern Star" of Illinois, and Al fred Newton Moore of Chicago, worthy grand patron, on Monday evening, July 29. Other grand of ficers may also attend.

The local chapter will hold dinner at 6:30 to be followed by a meeting during which the initiation ritual will be given. Committees working on the event are as follows: Dinner Mrs. Charles Stokes, chairman, Mrs, Clifford Kitchen and Mrs. A. L.

Carney Gilkerson of McHenry. Mr. Jones returned to the coast July 1 and Mrs. Jones will reside at the home of her parents for the present. Woman's Association Meets The members of the Methodist Woman's association will meet at the church on Wednesday after noon at 2:30 o'clock.

The bride and groom will be at home at the bride's parents for a few weeks after which they will make their home in Elgin. Conn, Circuit Clerk and Recorder at the County Court house at Woodstock. The groom was graduated from the Huntley Community High school and is employed in the Mayonnaise Dept. of Pearsall's Butter Co. at Elgin. Guests at the ceremony and reception were from Harvard, Bel-videre, Elgin, Huntley, Hampshire, Chicago, Oak Park, Woodstock and Marengo.

Neighbors Have Picnic The picnic for the members and their families of the Royal Neighbors will be held at the Calvin Spencer Memorial park at Marengo on Friday evening, July 19, at 6 :30 o'clock, beginning with a picnic supper. Each family is to bring table service, sandwiches and a dish to pass. Wed In Iowa Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sandman of Marengo, announce the mar riage of their daughter, Esther, to Carl Schmars, son of Mrs.

Elizabeth Schmars of this city, which took place at Iowa on Saturday. The couple was attended by Miss Amanda Wolf and Robert Keen of Belvidere. The bride wore a shell pink chiffon dress with brown and white accessories. Her corsage was of pink carnations, blue sweetpeas and baby's breath. The bridesmaid wore a beige and brown dress with brown accessories and a corsage of yellow carnations, blue sweetpeas and baby's breath.

Mrs. Schmars is employed at the McGill Metal Products where she has worked for the past ten years. Mr. Schmars is employed by Lavern Ackman, who has a grinding business. Family Reunion Held Snnday A family reunion was held at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Adelbert Stewart on Sunday in honor of Mrs. Jack Millburg of San Anto nio, Texas. Those present were ivandMrsTErT and Mrs. Charles Stiles and Mrs.

Service Clab Meets The members of the Service club of the Presbyterian church will meet at the home of the Misses Claire and Edith Loofbour-row on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. A program will be presented by Mrs. George McGiD.

Hostesses for the afternoon will be Mrs. Howard Patrick, Mrs. Al Johannes and Mrs. F. L.

Baird. Circle To Meet The members of the Home Circle will meet at the home of Mrs. W. Woodard on Wednesday afternoon, July 17, for a 1 o'clock luncheon. Mrs.

and Mrs. Moitzen will be at home in their newly furnished apartment at 466 Enterprise street, Elgin. Mrs. Moitzen is travelling in a rose and navy blue dress with white ac cessories. The bride's mother wore a dress of rose color and the groom's mother wore a navy blue sheer dress.

Both women wore corsages of yellow roses. Mrs. Moitzen was graduated from the Marengo Community High school and later attended Ellis Business college in Elgin. Mr, Moitzen was graduated from the Elgin High school. The couple is employed in the office of the Illi nois-Watch Case company.

Guests at the wedding were from Elgin and Union. Wed at Union Church Miss Thelma Ackman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ackman of Union, and Harley Rammien, son of Mr. and Mrs.

John Rammien of Elgin, 111., were united in mar riage at the Evangelical church of Union on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock with the Rev. Karl Buff performing the single ring ceremony. Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Paul Tracy sang "Oh Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly" accom panied by Mrs. Edward F.

Winkel- man, who also played the wedding march on the organ. Bridesmaids were Miss Arminta Ackman of Hampshire, cousin of the bride and Miss Veleta Wilkins of Harmony. Lee Ellyn Anderson of Chicago, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Charles Ackman of Marengo, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer. Miss Sylvia Ackman of Hampshire, a cousin of the bride, served as maid of honor.

Clarence Kunke of Elgin served as best man. The ushers were Wayne Ackman of Union and Le-roy Ackman of Marengo, brothers of the bride. The bride wore ivorylace over an ivory satin dress with a train and a three-tiered veil and a coronet headdress trimmed with orange blossoms fashioned of mother-of- pearl. Her only accessory was a pearl, necklace which was a gift of the groom. She carried a cas cade bouquet of white Killarney roses.

The bridesmaids wore gowns of aqua marquisette with matching roses. The maid of honor wore a pink marquisette dress with matching hat trimmed with aqua velvet and carried an arm bouquet of Johanna hill roses and delphiniums. The flower girl wore a long, pink marquisette dress. The ring-bearer, best man and ushers wore white flannel trousers with dark brown coats. Miss Ackman approached the alter on the arm of her father who gave her in marriage.

The church was decorated with garden flowers, ferns, candelabras and candlesticks. About sixty guests were present at the 'wedding ceremony after which a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. A two course luncheon was served by Miss Beatrice Bopp of Harvard, Miss Delores Ackman of Hamp shire, Mrs. Harold Wilcox and Mrs Thurow. The bridal table was decorated with candles and flowers with the wedding eake as the main feature.

Methodist Society Meets The members of tire Methodist Missionary society met at the cottage of Mrs. Annis Swonguer at Camp Epworth on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, beginning with a pot-luck luncheon. Following the luncheon, devo tions were given by Mrs.

Vivia Poyer and a program was presented by Mrs. C. H. Ocock. Birthday Party Held The monthly birthday party for the women of the Presbyterian church was held at the home of Mrs.

L. A. Stockwell on last Wed nesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. A program, consisting of a piano solo by Betty Wachob, a quizz and numerous games, was presented by Mrs. William Corson.

The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. wm. uougnerty, mrs. Herbert Chesnut, Mrs. Theodore Kelley, Mrs.

Guild Meeting Held Mrs. A. E. McKenney entertained the of the Martha Guild of the Baptist church at her home on Thursday evening at 7 :30 o'clock. Mrs.

Herbert Anthony was the. assisting hostess. A business meeting was held and a program was presented. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Ladies' Aid Society Meets The members of the Lutheran Ladies' Aid society met in the Lutheran school basement on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for their regular business meeting.

Merle English at Woodstock on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. A regular business meeting will be held and refreshments will be served. Mrs. Melms Entertains Mrs. Carol Melms of Hampshire will entertain the members of the 3-M club at her home on Saturday at 1:00 o'clock for a dessert- luncheon and bridge.

The bride wore a princess-style gown of white mousseline de soir over white satin with a finger-tip veil of tulle, held by a headdress of orange blossoms. Her only jewelry was an amethyst necklace and she carried a bouquet of talis man roses and baby's breath. Miss Jahn's only attendant, Miss Veleta Wilkins, was dressed in gown oi Diue mousse line de soir over blue net with a corsage of pink roses. Kenneth Kastner, cousin of the bridegroom, served as best man.

Preceding the ceremony, Miss Martha Jahn, aunt of the 'bride, played "Meditation" and "A Mother's which were fol lowed by Lohengrin's "Wedding signalling the approach of the bridal party. The wedding dinner was served at 1:30 o'clock at Benjamin's in Coral where 35 guests were seated.
