A panel of 10 judges has been named to select the new Miss Universe from among some 70 contestants in the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant to be broadcast live, via satellite, from the new Folk Arts Center in Manila, the Philippines, Saturday, July 20 - 10-11 pm on CBS OQGD(G7) The judges for this year's pageant are columnist Earl Wilson; Jerry West, star guard of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team; Flamenco dancer-choreographer Jose Greco; singer-actress Leslie Uggams; racing-car driver Sterling Moss; Corinna Tsopei Zax, Miss Universe 1964; Kiyoshi Hara, president of the Ashi Broadcasting Company of Japan; Francoise Sagan, French novelist; Edilson Sid Verella, Brazilian newspaperman and director of TV Brasilia; and designer Emilio Pucci. An llth panel member, a native of the Philippines, will be announced later. Arthur Hill, star of Owen Marshall, narrates tonight's BICENTENNIAL MINUTE which follows The Waltons - a t approximately 8:57 pm " " First of Seven New Episodes of TEMPERATURES RISING Airs Tonight at 8 Seven new episodes of Temperatures Rising will be telecast starting tonight and concluding August 29 as the 8 pm replacement for Chopper One. A comedy series played against the background of a modern city hospital, Temperatures Rising stars Paul Lynde as Dr. Mercy, economy-minded Chief Administrator of Capital Hospital; and Cleavon ' Little as Dr. Jerry Noiand, young resident surgeon who wages a continuing battle against red tape, bureaucracy and the penny-pinching policies of Dr. Mercy. New faces in the cast of regulars include Alice Ghastly as Edwina Moffitt, admissions nurse and sister of Dr. Mercy; Nancy Fox (returning) as the student nurse; and Barbara Rucker as Amanda Kelly, head nurse of Capital Hospital's third floor. Services were held in Hollywood the first week in July for actor Frank Sutton (Sergeant Carter of Corner Pyle), who died of an apparent coronary just as he was ready to go on stage in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was starring in "Luv." Bob Newhart is taking a five-week br.eak from filming his TV series to appear at the Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas.
