The Little League teams of Long-view and Gregg County will sell tickets to the opening game here between Longview and Texarkana for a series of prizes offered by Dick Burnett, owner of the local club. The grand prize will be an airplane trip to Comiskey Park in Chicago for a double-header between the White Sox and the world's champion New York Yankees on Sunday, June 22. The Longview Lobos will begin spring football training Tuesday. Head Coach Wilson (Swede Dees has announced, and approximately 75 candidates for the 1952 eleven are expected to report for the first practice session. The squad will be divided Into three groups during spring training, which will be limited to three weeks, somewhat shorter than the usual duration for spring football. The first few days will be limited to conditioning exercises and the first light scrimmage will be held a week after the start on spring training, Coach Dees said. The initial scrimmage is set for February 26.

A full scale intrasquad scrimmage will be staged February 29. The spring training period will close March 7, when the Lobos will meet the Longview High exes in a regulation game under the lights. Two free passes to all home games await the fan who selects a name for the Long-view baseball club in the Big State League and explains in fifty words or less why he or she chose the name. The contest is simple and easy and is open to all baseball fans. There are no strings attached to the offer and there's nothing to buy in order to enter. Here are the few simple rules: 1. Simply send in a proposed name for the club and explain in fifty words or less why you think that particular name should be adopted.

2. In the event the winning name is submitted by two or more fans, the winning entry will be determined on the basis of the best letter of explanation. 3. The name should be reasonably short and appropriate to the Longview, Gregg county and East Texas area. 4.

Entries should be addressed to Baseball Editor, Longview News and Journal. 5. The contest closes Saturday, March 1, and all entries must reach the baseball editor by that date.
