Pnlir. motive for the execution-type slayings of seven persons, including five children, in a home that is headquarters for a Muslim religious sect. A police spokesman said it was "definitely an execution." Police said they were having trouble identifying the victims.

Two women who were found shot in the head, but alive, inside the house were Identified as Bibi Khaalis and Almina Khaalis, both about 20. Police said some of the victims had been shot and others apparently drowned. Officers added that although three children were found in a bathtub, an autopsy will be needed to determine if they were drowned. Polite Lt. Joseph O'Brien said the killings were discovered about 4:30 p.m.

when an occupant of the home returned from shopping and saw four black men running through the back yard. Neighbors said they saw a man chase two men from the house and pursue their automobile in a second car and that the second car later returned to the home with a bullethole in the windshield. They also reported hearing four shots from the house. Milwaukee Bucks basketball star Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who bought the house and donated it to the Hanafi Muslims, said of the crime: "I can think of only crazy people, lunatics who would do it." Jabbar was known as Lew Alcindor when he starred at UCLA. Jabbar, a member of the sect, was in Milwaukee when the slayings The 1 01 .3 spot on the FM radio dial, formerly occupied by WPBC, will come alive again at midnight Tuesday as WRAH.

All the victims were black and ranged in age from infancy to 30 years, police said.

Police said they are looking for four black men seen by witnesses running from the rear door of the home, and police intelligence sources indicated that as many as eight men may have participated in the killings. Stewart said general manager Marlin Schlott-man "blew the candle" on the frequency Nov. 3 when Fairchild Industries, a Maryland aerospace firm, assumed control of WPBC's AM and FM WRAH MAY START WITH HUM rffh FRIDAY EVENING 7:00 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. He charged them with "bad faith" in ending their sponsorship of his research and with preventing him from obtaining another sponsor by defaming him. Wild was researching the use of ultrasonic sound to detect breast cancer and was trying to develop a machine to translate the sonic waves rapidly into a reliable diagnosis. Henry Halladay, attorney for the defendants, told Hennepin District Court Judge Tom Bergin today he believes the verdict was the result of "passion and prejudice" on the part of the jury.

Bergin denied Halladay's motion for a reversal of the verdict or a new trial but stayed the execution of the judgment for Wild pending appeal of the case to the Minnesota Supreme Court. The AM station continued broadcasting under the new call letters of WYOO. The FM operation was shut down so that new equipment could be installed and. so that station officials could find a format "gap" in the crowded Twin Cities radio market: The policy they settled on for WRAH is popular which date back no longer than two years. "We're not referring to the format as rock or top 40," Stewart said.

"The music we're going to play could be done by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, 3 Dog Night or a Chinese gong group, just so long as it was a recent hit or still is one. Our theme at WYOO is nostalgia, and I like to think of WRAH's as WRAH will broadcast 24 hours a day and will adopt what Stewart calls a "twin-spin" policy playing two numbers in a row. "We'll have only seven minutes of commercials each hour," -he said. "That's not new to FM, but it is to listeners of our type of music." Although the station's format is designed to attract a young audience, Stewart pledged that the WRAH announcing staff will not be of the rah-rah variety. "People are tired of being screamed at," he said.

"Our people will use a bright but conversational tone. And they won't talk over the opening and closing of a record." That's good news. I can't stand blabbing over music. The starting time for the station had been in doubt until yesterday because new equipment which arrived this week was still being installed and tested. Stewart did, however, say midnight Tuesday.

But I wonder why he started to hum. CLIFF" ARQUETTE, one of the sharpest wits on television, will return to "Hollywood Squares" Jan. 29.
