"Skip" Wise, a basketball player at Clemson University during the mid-1970s, was arrested here Tuesday on heroin distribution charges, police said. Sgt. Mike Bass, said Wise turned himself in to authorities early Tuesday morning and was being held. Wise and 22 others were indicted Nov. 15 by a city grand jury in connection with what authorities termed a major heroin distribution ring.

At least 14 of those suspects have been arrested, police said. The indictments followed an 18-month long investigation by local authorities. Wise attended Clemson until his sophmore year, when he signed a multi-million dollar contract with the new Baltimore franchise in the American Basketball Association. However, the team folded before any games were played. The 28-year-old Wise was unable to make any National Basketball Association team after numerous tryouts.

He later served two years of a 12-year sentence following a drug conviction. )t NO DISQUALIFICATION CAGE MATCH Pi RIC FLAIR VS HARLEY. In 1981, when Ford was 33, the Tigers won the national championship, making him the youngest to win a national title. He was honored as United Press International's national coach of the year.

The Tigers then won their ninth ACC championship last year. Ford took over the head coaching job Dec. 5, 1978, after the sudden resignation of Charley Pell, and won the opportunity to coach the Tigers to a 17-15 victory over Ohio State in the 1978 Gator Bowl. He has credit for four winning seasons and two undefeated conference seasons. The third undefeated ACC season came this year, but didn't count because of the be- cause of the probation.
