He was associated also with the Transylvania Music Camp Brevard, N.C., was a veteran of World War I and received the Distinguished Service Cross and other citations. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Carrie M. Hester of Mt. Carmel and Mrs.

and Mrs. Emmie Sanford of Westminster; 'BAMBERG (UPI) Former (state Sen. James Carlisle Kearse Sr. of Bamberg died Wednesday at the Medical University in Charleston at the age of 79. Kearse served in the state House of Representatives from 1921 to 1925 and represented Bamberg County in the Senate from 1940 until his retirement in 1956.

Kearse, a native of the Kearse Community of Bamberg County, was born in 1893 and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina Law School. Funeral services were scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bamberg with burial at the South End Cemetery. Kearse is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eunice John Kearse; a daughter, Mrs.
