Transit planning roles staked out Officials of the City of Minneapolis, the Metropolitan Transit Commission and the Metropolitan Council ironed out their differences Thursday over the extent to which each should bo involved In developing a metropolitan rail rapid transit plan. At a meeting ut the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce building, the three agencies agreed that Minneapolis should have a more explicit role In route and station locations within Its borders. The Transit Commission will net as overall director of the project, with Its consultants and the professional staffs of each Interested municipality working on specific layouts. The final plan will be reviewed by the Transportation Management Committee, made up of highway, municipal, county and metropolitan officials, and by the Metropolitan Council before presentation to the 1971 Minnesota Legislature. The Transit Commission plans to spend $747,000 to develop a comprehensive transit plan for the legislature. It would Include specific finance anil route recommendations for the first 19 miles to be completed by 1980. Hansen, 64, member of the Minneapolis Hoard of Estimate and Taxa tion since 1961 UViJ Mr, Hansen and its president from 1064 to 1968, (lied Wednesday night of a cardiac arrest in Fair-view Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital Tues day for a respiratory aliment. Mr. Hansen, born In Hope, Minn., had aimed at the ministry, and after graduation from the high school at Owa-tonna, Minn., attended Union College at Lincoln, Neb., and Hutchinson Theological Seminary at Hutchinson, Minn. The depression interfered with his plans. He came to Minneapolis in the early depression days and be Saturday, went to work as an orderly at Minneapolis General Hospital. After several years he moved to Blooming Prairie and began farming, but subsequently returned to Mln-' neapolis and another job with the city. He became a driver for the city's equipment department and continued In that capacity until he retired from city service in I960. The following year he was elected to the estimate board. The Hansen family home is at 3133 Longfellow Av. Survivors include his widow, Myrtle, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Novella) Johnson, Richmond, Ind., and one grandchild.
