Are my first wife's sisters and broth-era still rhy in-law? Are their children still my nephews and nieces? A. I assume that you are asking whether or not children of your deceased wife's brothers and sisters are legally your heirs. The answer to this question is controlled by Minnesota Statute 525.

16, which specifies how property descends to one's heirs. Simply put, the descent of property follows bloodlines. Accordingly, nephews and nieces by marriage are not heirs-at-law. you die without a will, your nephews and nieces through your first wife will not inherit' from you. you make a will and refer to a class of recipients as your "nieces and nephews," then you should be certain to specify that "nieces and nephews" include the children of your deceased wife's siblings, if that is what you desire to do.

Similarly, the Sisters and brothers of your first wife would have to be specified in your wiH to inherit from you, as they are not heirs-at-law. Adult moths may stilt be seen for a few weeks after the food source has been removed, because they have hatched from previously spun cocoons. However, if foods are packaged ki insect-proof containers, the adults will not be able to reach food sources for laying eggs and they wit die in a few days. more than four weeks pass and adult moths are sti seen, then a food source has been overlooked and the control procedure should be repeated-.

Bounds chme here from Orlando, and it may be another Orlando-ite, or whatever they call denizens of Orlando, who will replace Bounds.

Word is that the station is making a strong pitch for an Orlando hotshot who recently turned down a KSTP of fer to take over Its weekend newscasts (where he would have replaced Fluer). But if KSTP offers him Bounds' weeknight job, he may find the offer more to his liking. The hotshot is reputed to have the magic that Bounds lacks: station sources say he's guaranteed to make Twin Cities females' hearts beat a little faster if he ever gets his nose In front of a Channel 9 camera. And you thought they hired these guys because of their nose for news. I reported March 22 that reruns of "Little House on the Prairie" on KMSP-TV get better ratings than the 4:30 news programs on Channels 9 and 1 1." The reason, I said, was obviously that more children than adults are watching TV at that hour.

This turns out to have offended the many adults who are watching TV at that hour who prefer Michael Landon to Dennis Bounds and John Bachman. First, I got a letter from Mary Lou Griffith of Prior Lake, chiding me for my ageism. 'Little House' Is my favorite show all week and my children, who are 3 and 9, only occasionally pay any attention to It," she wrote. "It deals sensitively with many issues I face as an adult It really gives a lift to my days and beats out another news show any day of the week." Channel 9 sent along some ratings Information indicating that Griffith isn't alone. Among women viewers aged 18 to 49, for example, 43 percent watched "Little House" In February compered with 12 percent for KSTP's "Eyewitness and 19 percent for WTCN' "Newscope." Roughly the same numbers held true for men in the same age category.

Looking at this Information, it appears as if the only viewers watching the 4:30 p.m. news shows are small children who think they're watching cartoons. Sometimes, I admit, It's hard to tell the difference. 1 Continued from page 1C their awards April 25 -In New York City. This seems a good a time to make belated acknowledgment that WTCN-TV also won ah award i' recently.

Channel 11 captured a coveted Alfred duPont-Columbia University Award for its 1982 i documentary on the scourge of herpes and other sexually transmitted; diseases. The report, narrated by anchor John Bachman, was called "Herpes Is Forever." WCCO-TV was given honorable mention for "Project Children," a series on the problems of teen-agers. Just so KSTP-TV won't feel left out, let's give Channel 5 an award, too. How about the Stanley E. Hubbard It's-Been-Nice-to-Know-You Award? Marcla Fluer got the prize March 23 when she was handed her walking papers after 12 years at the station.

Now there's another winner Dennis Bounds. Bounds Is coanchor of the station's 4:30 p.m. and p.m. news reports. He is a smooth capable, confident, competent news anchor.

But that, apparently, isn't enough. Station managers told Bounds Friday that audience research conducted by KSTP shows he just doesn't have the magic required for its p.m. report to overtake Channel 4's 9 pjn. news show In the ratings. That means that Bounds, whose contract is up June 30, will be out when Channel 5 hires a new male coanchor to work witi Sharon Anderson at 4:30 and Cyndy Brucato Cat 9p.m.

Bounds said his situation isn't like Fluer's, which got bloody. "I want to make it clear that I'm not being unceremoniously booted out" Bounds said. "They don't necessarily want to sever the relationship but they told me I have no future as an anchor at KSTP. Apparently, the research did me in. They say I'm a good reporter and that they like my reporting.

And they would like me to stay on as a reporter should I happen to desire to." But Bounds said he is "leaning" toward leaving the Twin Cities in search of another news anchor job. "Anchoring Is my strong point, regardless of what the research says for this market," he said. "What doesn't play in one market could very well play in another and I'll be checking the situation out around the country." Bounds said the research showed that most viewers thought be did a good job and that none would turn Channel 9 off to avoid him. But his fatal flaw, apparently, was that not enough viewers would switch to KSTP to see him. "I just have to accept this," he said.

"It's part of the unfortunately." Bounds started KSTP two years Write Fixit, ki care of the Minnaapc Star ar Please eend a stamped, H-addreesed envelope please. ''The Amy Vanderbllt Complete Book of Etiquette," revised and expanded by Letltla Baldrldge ,0. We have found four smalt moths in our home during January and Febru- ary; one of them is enclosed.

Where are they corning they the kind of moths that eat wool? A. The insect you sent ki is an Indian meal moth. This is the most common moth found indoors by homeowners. Their source ie not ckrtrting or material as la often (mistakenly) thought bet food. Indian meal moths, with their two-colored wings, do not feed and only Uve a few days, However, the adult female moths lay eggs from which white worms or larvae hatch.

During the insect's feeding stage, it prefers whole grain foods, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, dry pet food, oatmeal, noodles, rice, and other similar products. Larvae, can chew through thin paper, plastic or cardboard food storage containers. They spin a silk layer on the food surface, where they normally feed. At maturity, the larvae wi crawl away from food sources to spin a cocoon. Many times homeowners win see white worms crawling up walls, in drawers, in between dish towels or other locations as the worms look for 1.
