C. Callison, former attorney of South Carolina, died in the Baptist Hospital in Columbia Thursday after a heart attack two weeks ago. Callison, 82, was state attorney general from 1951 to 1958. He served as an assistant attorney general from 1940 to 1951 and was solicitor of the 11th judicial circuit from 1920 to 1936. A native of Edgefield County, Callison graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School in 1909.

He moved to Lexington in 1911 and practiced with George Bell Timmerman, until He was also chairman of the Lexington County Democratic party from 1924 to 1940. In the early 1930's Callison organized and became president of the Lexington Depository which became the Bank of Lexington in 1948. He served as president until its recent merger with the First National Bank of South Carolina, and at the time of his death, was vice president of the chain. Callison had served as a trustee at intervals for the past 40 years. He was chairman of the S.

C. State Board of Public Welfare and was a permanent member of the Judicial Council of the Fourth Circuit of appeals. Surviving are three sons, Rep. Preston H. Callison and Jack R.

Callison, both of West Columbia and T. C. Callison Jr. of Gaffney; two daughters, Miss Ruby Callison and Mrs. T.

H. Rawl, both of Lexington. His wife was late Margaret Reel Callison. She died in 1960. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.

Friday at the Lexington Baptist Church by Rev. William P. Clyde. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in Edgefield. Pallbearers will be G.
