The resolution will also petition the County Board to approve the advertising of bids on the project once the design is complete. The architect hopes to have the plans completed within the next two weeks.

It is then hoped, if the County Board approves the advertising, to have bids back to the commission by early November. The design of the parking lot is to be planned with the future addition of the breakwater in mind. The resolution followed a report on soil borings made at the park where a proposed breakwater is to be built. With this report in on determining how to build the breakwater, the commission felt it was feasible to begin send Park Director Cecil Depeau to meet with the Brown County Highway Department to reach a solution on repairs and cost factors.

The commission agreed to the development of the first stage in hopes that the needed fill for the project can be purchased cheaper at this time. The Suamico Town Board directed a letter to the members of the commission asking for their help to solve the problems of needed repairs on the Sunset Beach Road.

The road which leads to the Suamico boat ramp has a half-mile stretch that is not wide enough for cars with boats to use if another is coming from the opposite direction. The Suamico Board feels the problem has been created in part by the existence of the boat ramp. Evel Knievel, daredevil stuntman and motorcycle racer, made a 14-year-old Milwaukee youth ecstatic recently with a $1,000 check to the Wisconsin Diabetes Association "on behalf of Billy Davidson." Billy, whose father works for the firm that manufacturers Evel's favorite cycle, had written asking Knievel to sponsor him in the Diabetes Association's 22-mile Bike-a-thon. It is a fund-raising event where participants obtain pledges for each mile they complete. Billy finished all 22 miles, but did not hear from Knievel. "Billy never gave up," his mother, Mrs. William Davidson, said.

"He's got a lot of faith in Evel. Somehow he knew Evel wouldn't forget him." Sure enough, Evel himself called Billy's father and apologized for missing the deadline. When he was told he could still sponsor the youth, Evel replied, "You tell Billy I'm sending a check." The $1,000 check arrived, and Billy "could hardly believe it," his mother said. Davidson had photocopies made "because the kids at school didn't believe Billy."
