Paul Tanguay kicked off for the Bulldogs and the ball trickled to the one-yard line untouched by Delaware. (UPI) Quarterback Ellsworth Turner ran for one touchdown and booted the extra point to give North Carolina a 15-14 win. over South Carolina State in a Mid-Eastern Conference game. The Aggies, now 2-0 for the season, were held scoreless until the fourth quarter when, with 2:08 left on the clock, Turner sneeked in a yard out following a pass to Bruce Black. Larry Barnham ran, the conversion to put on the scoreboard for the first time at 14-8.

The Aggies then drove for the win with about a minute to play when Turner hit Dexter Seaster with an 18-yard pass to get to S. C. State' one-yard line. Fullback Ron Scott carried the ball over for the score and the extra-point boot by Turner gave the Aggies the win. It was the first time in three years that the ASg-ies were able to defeat South Carolina State.

South Carolina State's first score came with 4:07 left in the third quarter on a 35-yard pass from Jesse Prather to Louis Pinkston. The extra point was kicked by Leroy Mason. South Carolina, now 1-1 for the year, got its second score in the final period. Fullback James Walker scampered 35 yards to the six-yard line and Prather sneeked in on fourth down. Mason tacked on his second extra point with the kick.
