E. Dedman, commander of the hospital, may be transferred to another hospital or back to Washington within a short time. Major Dedman. as is generally known, took charge of the camp hospital when the state of affairs there was not altogether pleasant, and during his few weeks as commanding officer has accomplished a transformation of the spirit of the institution. Because of this fact and the high regard in which he is held, it was authori tatively stated last night that an effort to have the major remain on his present asaign- it will be made.

Leading residents the city and some of the city's it was asserted, will probably join in this effort. Major Dedman was sent to the hospital by the surgeon general in the belief that the assignment was only I tenmorarv. Milliken is now with a lumber company at Marion, S. and comes here from that city. He wan fcrmerly connected with the Atlantic Coast Lumber company, at Georgetown, and bears the reputation of be-ins a thoroughly capable and efficient lumberman, with an extensive knowl edge of the lumber industry. Well-organized canvassing teams will begin work bright and early tomorrow morning in the campaign which saims at a minimum of to be expended by the Catholics erecting a new and needed building for St. Mary's school in Greenville. Annie Terry Cooper, wife of Mr. Harry W. Cooper whose death occurred at the home of her sister in law, Mrs. O. P.

Rhodes, at noon Friday, will be held this afternoon from the residence of Mrs Rhodes, 215 Mulberry street. Mrs. Cooper had been in declining health for several months past all of which was endured with a Christian I spirit characteristic of her life. She is survived by her husband and three small children, also three broth-brothers, Messrs. Maurice and Pearce and Sim Terry and a sister, Mrs.

Mat. tie Carnes all of this city. A member of Central Baptist church the services this afternoon will be con-i ducted by P.ev. A. M.

Poggett, assist-' ed by Rev. S. T. Mathews. The in-! terment will be in Graceland cemetery.
